I completely agree with jersey73 on the "I have never laid eyes on you" part. Its so great. This and Castles Made of Sand are my favorite Hendrix songs. Oh, and Brian May, the guitarist from Queen does a good cover of this on one of his solo albums. It's a really good cover, but of course not as good as the original. |

I'm certainly not a Hilary Duff fan by any means, or really a Green Day fan on that matter, but if Green Day can cover this song then why the hell can't Hilary Duff?? Go ahead and say it sucks all you want ( I think she sucks too), just don't say she has no right to cover this song because Green Day has just as little right.
Anyway, in the original Daltry sand the song with a stutter so he would sound like a kid on speed, if that helps anyone find the meaning to the song. |

erasmus11290 is so very right, not every Queen song is about AIDS!! Brian May did write this, and it's almost impossible that it's about AIDS because (if you look at the facts) Freddie probably got AIDS in 1986, and even after he was diagnosed he didn't tell the band untill a few months before he died. I believe Italian Phaethon is right about why Brian wrote this song, I think I read that somewhere...

I love this band sooo much!! I want to add more lyrics by them, but its so hard because they are not too famouse so i have to get the words by ear (hard!) They are also kind of hard to find, their CD, "The Politics of Dancing," only comes in cassette and record...I think this song is about how people need music to break them out of their mechanical lifestyle. |

I think the reason that Queen made it so far is because they had three members who could really sing! Just listen to this song, Brian May's voice is just beautiful!! even though Freddie may have possesed the greatest rock voice, I wish May and Taylor would have sung more, they have such great voices too. |

I love this song, it's awesome! Theres a pretty good cover out by the Goo Goo Dolls, but I like this one more. As for the Jesus theory, it works, but I don't think thats what they meant it to be. It was written by Roger Hodgeson when hw was a teenager, and I'm guessing its about wantong a girl, not about Jesus... but I could be wrong. |

His buddy tell him to watch out or the same thing could happen to him. The guy is starting to really fall in love with his girl and is wondering if shes lying all the times that she says 'I love you' Thats what I think at least. |

This song is so good, but unfortunately i havent got the slightst idea what the meaning is, or if there even is a meaning!! If i had to guess i'd say that its about an average joe who breaks into stardom of some sort and the only person he has that he can rely on is his girlfriend whom he doesnt exactly get along with like a loving couple should. In the begining his fram of mind is, "I've got it made, look at my sucess, I've got everything I need, money and a girlfriend." but then after the effects of stardom kick in he is more like, "stop looking at me, i dont want to live this way anymore, leave me alone." thats what I think at least, I'm pretty sure that that s not the meaning, but hey, Its what i think it is! |

This is such a beautiful song, I cant believe no one has commented. This is about true love and how not to give up in a relationship that’s this way. My favorite song, Supertramp is a brilliant band.
“Too frightening to listen to a stranger” meaning she still looks at him as someone she barely knows and who barely knows her; someone she can’t yet trust.
“Don’t let the tears linger on inside now. If I can help you, if I can help you, if I can help you, please let me know” is the guy saying that she can talk to him, he’s there for her and wants to help her with anything and everything.
“I as a boy believed the saying the cure for pain was love. How would it be if you could see the world through my eyes?” the guy is saying that he believes love can help her and him but since she won’t love him back and that she doesn’t know how hard she’s making it for him to carry on loving her.
“I wanna know, I wanna know you… please let me know you,I wanna feel you, I wanna touch you. please let me near you, can you hear what I'm saying? What I'm hoping, I'm dreaming I'm praying” means the guy wants to be as close to her as possible, and he wants nothing more than this girl in his life but she sosmehow doesn’t understand that.
“know exactly what you're feelin' ,cos all your troubles are whithin you, please begin to see that I'm just ,bleeding to. Love me, love you. Loving is the way to, Help me, help you” the guy is beginning to close up and ‘hide in his shell’ just like the girl, because of what she does to him. He thinks that the only way to help them is through love. |

Honestly, I think this song can mean anything. I think the thing that makes Queen such a great band is that their lyrics can mean something to one person and the opposite to another!! I think that they wanted the song to mean something special to everyone, whether it be a gay or sports anthem. |
