Vanessa Carlton – London Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I cannot help but think this is an ode to her clandestine relationship with Third Eye Blind frontman, Stephan Jenkins. They are both lyrical geniuses that I, as a fan, have always considered to be cut from the same artistic cloth. When Vanessa sings "You've got a knife-throwing kind of love, but your silence cuts the deepest" it conjures images of a long term relationship coming to a head. And I can't shake the connection that 3EB also recorded a song called "London" about two people who weren't seeing eye to eye on the status of their lives together. |
The Cranberries – I Will Always Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song positively melts me; it is so melodic and haunting. It can set the tone for my day completely. As for what the lyrics mean, I have always found comfort in thinking that it is from the perspective of a girl whose heart is breaking because she must let someone she loves go on with their life separate from her. She loves them so deeply that she accepts the loss because it is best for the other person. |
Jimmy Eat World – Invented Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Aces, I think you hit the nail on the head. Your savvy interpretation has really cleared up a lot for me, and proven that this forum is, in fact, helpful. Thanks a million for breathing even more life into this complex song. |
Jimmy Eat World – Anais (Demo Version) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song, to me, is about having a toxic relationship and reaching a point in your life where you have to let it end but there is still that visceral pull to keep it. |
Elvis Costello – The Other End (Of the Telescope) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This may very well be one of the greatest love songs ever written. The imagery, the metaphors and the composition and arrangement are just overwhelmingly bittersweet. The other end of the telescope, if you look through a telescope backwards, you will see things far away instead of close up. It's about how one day you know someone as well as you know yourself, and the next thing you know... they're a total stranger. |
Third Eye Blind – One in Ten Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is about the time Stephan had a crush on a lesbian. It was obviously love of the unrequited type. |
The Killers – Human Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It would be "more dense". |
The Killers – Human Lyrics | 15 years ago |
DENSER is not a word. |
Michelle Branch – Everything Comes And Goes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is amazing and I'm honored to be the first to comment. I can't wait for this album! |

Alexz Johnson – Dont Dare Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Dark cloud moving in Just one fall of rain Would wash away, wash away the pain Just one ray of sun To warm my skin and bring the air the cause your drowning in I could say that I don't care but the truth is I'd follow you anywhere I've been waiting such a long, long time don't you dare change your mind It seems so close to me it's still beyond my reach calling me and playin hide and seek look behind that door I'm the one you've been searching for and I'm not a little girl anymore I could say that i dont care but the truth is I'd follow you anywhere I've been waiting such a long, long time don't you dare change your mind don't wander 'round lookin for someone to replace me don't wander 'round wasting the rest of your life don't wander round waiting for someone else to save you and don't you dare make the same mistake twice I could say that I don't care but the truth is I'd follow you anywhere I've been waiting such a long, long time don't you dare change your mind I could say that I don't care but the truth is I'd follow you anywhere I've been waiting such a long, long time dont you dare change your mind don't change your mind don't change your mind |
Alexz Johnson – Where does it Hurt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Beating like wind in my hand we can't hide another lie I'll always see into you there's nothing wrong with coming up empty and cold staying too long And tryin to change rocks into gold I've been there too I've wasted myself and you were there for me so whenever you crash wherever you land that's where I'll be and for every endless midnight there's a sky full of broken stars and there'll always be a place for you inside my arms where does it hurt? When you open your heart, there's always so much to lose so far to fall and nowhere to go when it's through but if you let me in I won't let you down put your faith in me cuz whenever you crash wherever you land that's where I'll be and for every endless midnight there's a sky full of broken stars and there'll always be a place for you inside my arms there's a million streets to walk down in this city of broken hearts but there'll always be a place for you inside my arms where does it hurt? where does it hurt? And for every endless midnight there's a sky full of broken stars and there'll always be a place for you inside my arms and there's a million streets to walk down in this city of broken hearts but there'll always be a place for you inside my arms Where does it hurt? (Ooh) Where does it hurt? Where does it hurt? |

We DID used to be so perfect. |
The Wreckers – Lay me Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think it's about a Booty Call. I think its about a couple that can admit to eachother that they can't even come close to getting along, so they just say fuck the fighting let's just Be. |
Green Day – Strangeland Lyrics | 18 years ago |
a shitty song? There are no shitty songs belonging to Green Day, pal. And you should consider yourself pretty f*ckin' lucky that we are communicating via internet, because if you had said something like that to my face I would give you a rap on the beezer that you'd never forget. |
Hoobastank – Say The Same Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh, that rat bastard. This song reminds me of this ass that totally wanted me but he let some whore and her whorish ways get to him so I got stuck in the PROVERBIAL FRIEND CATERGORY. Fuckin' crap is what that is. And you know what I have to say to him? Goodbye, my friend, until we meet again some other day; I know so much will change, lookin back what can I say? I WOULDN'T CHANGE A DAY AND I HOPE YOU CAN SAY YOU UNDERSTAND. |

'Cause now I feel a bridge is burning, and all the smoke is in my eyes." Ok. So picture it: Your friends are always making you feel like you're the ass in the situation, and you start to realize that, in fact, they are the Ball-lickers. |
The Wreckers – Cigarettes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
There really is nothing like a solitary cigarette while you're tooling down a two-lane dirt highway, the sun beating down on your knuckles as they grip the elongated steering wheel of a '54 Caddy... Just f*ckin' drive |

Hoobastank – Inside of You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think its more funny than serious. What do I have to do to get inside of you? What do I have to do to get my ***k sucked 'round here? |
The Wreckers – Stand Still, Look Pretty Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Do you ever hear a song's lyrics and think, "Jesus, I could have written that." Because you relate to it so similarly?? Well I think this is that song for me. You find a way of life that you like and you finally get acceptance, and people turn it into something completely watered down and commercialized. |
The Wreckers – Leave The Pieces Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Would like to specify--- I am not a country fan by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just a fan of people doing what they were clearly born to do, and Jess Harp and M. Branch were so obviously born to make music like this. In fact, this song is too cool to be labelled country. I would like, henceforth, to call it Organically Rustic. Just take your love and hit the road, suckers!!! This song owns! |
Hoobastank – Born To Lead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It means you don't have to shop @ The Gap and drink perfectly packages espresso to be an individual. Being free is being insubordinate. |
