I'm completely with you on that, obfuscate. I, as anyone with half a brain, have grown to detest the pseudo-seductive rantings of Britney Spears and all her ilk--but there is something different about this song. I first heard the song when my little sister, being the average pre-teen girl, was blasting the new Britney Spears CD she'd just gotten from her room. When she left the door open to go downstairs, I promptly stepped into the hallway to close it lest I lose any more brain cells. But then I heard this song playing, and guiltily listened to the rest of it. I don't know what it is, but the melody of this song grabs me. The beauty I hear in this song seems universal, as though this precise melody has been with me my entire life (especially the chorus). |
