The Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song refers to D'arcy and her frustration of being in the band. The way Billy writes the song comes across to me as her feeling trapped. Such lyrics which make me believe my theory are: but can you fake it, for just one more show and what do you want, i want to change and what have you got when you feel the same even though i know-i suppose i'll show all my cool and cold-like old job despite all my rage i am still just a rat in a cage then someone will say what is lost can never be saved I don't know why I think this, but whenever I listen to the song i find that it makes me think of D'arcy, and how she wasn't happy in the band, and felt trapped, like a rat in a cage. It seems like Billy is referring himself to her in an almost sarcastic rhetorical way. 'I suppose i'll show' refers to D'arcy putting on a cool attitude to the band, and acting like nothing as wrong, but the band members knew there was, and I think Billy wrote this song referring to himself and D'arcy, and his feelings on her not wanting to be in the band, and not feeling as if she fit in. She was under a lot of stress with the release and recording of MCIS, and I think Billy did write the song about her, as she was known for her stubborness. But then again im probably just rambling. |
