this is the pistols dissing ny and the ny dolls which were huge influences on the sex pistols. mclaren was the dolls manager, and the pistols sound is pretty much a ripoff of the dolls sound. there was no 'punk rock' in the uk until the ramones toured there, so the pistols and other early uk punk bands took much inspiration and energy from nyc punk rock. check out johnny thunders' "london boys" for the retort: "you poor little puppet...you need an escort to take a piss/he holds your hand and shakes your dick" interestingly, the band on the "so alone" version of "london boys" is all english musicians -- steve jones, gtr and paul cook, drums from the pistols and phil lynott on bass. |

Carbona was a spot remover/dry cleaning fluid for home use sold until the 90's, with similar effects to glue when inhaled. The company sued Sire Records to have the song removed from copies of The Ramones "Leave Home" LP. Great song. |

You command respect from all, including the police and your moral superiors. The final couplet is classic. |
