he gave up on love because his heart got broken... "three days ago" he was in a real mess, but now he has decided to stop living in the past and try pick up the pieces and get his heart back from the river where he threw it, metaphorically. he really loved the girl, but took her for granted, thats what he means by "You never know just what you have Until you get it yanked out of your chest". and now he realises what he has done to himself by not getting on with things "oh my god i look pathetic tonight" and i think this angers him so he decides that if he cant have her back he is gonna do his best to get back on track. i wish a friend of mine would fish out his broken heart from the river he threw it in, he really needs to get over his ex and its really sad she has messed him up so much. once again great poetry about real feelings from chris :D *am i analysing this too much?!* |

this rules, makes my hand ache, but its all for the satisfaction of being able to play (and nearly sing along to aswell!) an amazing song. i have loved ash since i was about 11, in 97 or something! just dug out 1977 and have been listening to it all day, best album, and tim wheeler is kinda cute u know?! just reminds me of those teenage obsessions, im guessing kung fu was his.... mine would have to be snowboarding! |

agree with everyone, but it's about his friend, who wishes he was like the guy who wrote this, and it's about respecting who you are as not everyone can be like you. it says "He looks up with a little smile at me,
And he says, if i could be like that...." so i guess it's about a friend. Respect all you have, others may not be so lucky?? thats what i think it means. love it.

this is my favourite song by jimmy eat world so far, and i haven't been into them for long, coz we have to look out for decent music here in england, most people only know bleed american/salt sweat sugar here, but i done my research and now i have nearly all their songs. this has to be one of the best, the acoustic version is amazing too. and by the way, handsdown, i probably sound like one of those "fake people" but i can assure you i'm not, where i am, i can't have been with the band from the beginning, so i have to go back, to fall in love with this band even more. no sensitivity - an amazing song, the world don't spin without you. damn right jimmy, come back play the uk again - last time was awesome! |
