Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Um..this is pretty much one of the worst songs I've ever heard. It's like Avril Lavigne meets the Country Showdown. This song is an embarassment to the human nature. I feel bad for Carrie Underwood. |
Eagles – Lyin' Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't know why, but this song cracks me up beyond measure. But I LOVE it..definitely one of the Eagle's best...doesn't top Desperado, but this is a great song. I like the moral behind it..it can relate to a lot of things in life. |
Disciple – the wait is over Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great headbanging song for the Christian kids, I'd say...but what was the wait for? What are we looking forward to? It doesn't ever say, and it leaves me wondering all kind of things. Not so good for a Christian band, or any band, I think... |
Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is THEE dumbest song I have ever heard from a rock band. Now I will admit, the lead singer has amazing vocals, but who is writing this mess? I hate when people feel that they have to swear to get the point across. I mean, come on, you're a songwriter! And even if you aren't, you can use a thesarus. I bet he wrote this when he was drunk on the back of the tour bus with a groupie and someone left the door open so he says, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?" and then he's like "Hey! That sounds good! I'm going to put that in my next song! It's going to make me famous!" And unfortunately, it did. |
Copeland – California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This was the first Copeland song I heard and for awhile it was my favorite (until I heard 'Kite' from 'In Motion'). Since I'm from California, I've got this thing about songs about California, so of course that's what drew me to the song searching threw music. Anyways, beautiful song, yes, but it ticks me off how they say "All of us here in Florida" because the band is from Georgia! Well, at least that's what they say on their myspace, and I currently live in Georgia so yeah..don't you think we'd want some kind of credit? huh huh?? |
Copeland – Kite Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've been listening to Copeland for awhile now and out of the entire In Motion and Beneath the Medicine Tree albums, I think this has been the best so far. And Aaron Marsh's vocals are... superb... hypnotizing... exotic. Some nights I put it on repeat and just listen to it over and over until I fall asleep. When it comes to the song's meaning, I think it's just about a guy and a girl who are in love with each other, only Marsh creates a very beautiful metaphoric atomosphere of the sky, kites, and floating and flying, obviously. Overall, very beautiful song. If you have never listened to Copeland or soft rock/acoustic music, I would definitely recommend this song first! |
Led Zeppelin – Black Country Woman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Man, I haven't heard this song in about 2 years. I thought it was about black woman in the country, though. Then I rememebered that Led Zep wasn't American so most likely not. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
punk_rock: the guitar doesn't suck. RHCP just tried something new, as a paid musician it sounds great. and they're making more money than you probably ever will anyway. so shut your mouth and enjoy the song. |
Travis – Re-Offender Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oops. That^ was supposed to be a comment on My Chemical Romance's Helena. |
The Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Being a black female, I feel kind of guilty because I know this whole song...but anyways, I had a question for white people...do y'all get offended by songs like this? |
Brad Paisley – Alcohol Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I can make you pick a fight with somebody twice your size." I don't drink, but this song is hilarious. I love how it describes the life o alcohol. It makes me not even want to drink, actually. Great song. It's one of my favorites from Brad. |
Switchfoot – You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of the saddest most depressing songs I have ever heard. However, that's what makes it so great. I believe that this song can be taken as a relationship with God or a relationship with a guy or girl..even a relationship with your parents. Any kind of relationship, really...even a relationship with yourself. Just depends on how you look at it. Personally, when I hear the song I think about my life. |
The Animals – House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, I heard this song was about gambling, too. However, it doesn't seem to be promoting it. I actually thought it was discouraging it, or at least making parents think twice before they put their children in those kind of situations. Or maybe I just like flipping things around to suit my lifestyle. *shrugs* Great song, though. Organ solo is simply amazing. |
Eagles – Hotel California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song can be taken in so many different ways and in all honesty, most songs can. Someone told my mom it was about sex, someone told me it was about drugs in California, and now I'm hearing it's possibly about addictions and even a cult... I think this is going a bit too far. I'm a songwriter and I pray, that if I ever write a hit people don't do this to my music. It takes out the whole meaning of the art of music. Just listen to the song and stop decyphering it. |
Lifehouse – Simon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought it was talking about Simon from Simon Says, honestly. Be a Christian and all...wow. Now did I feel stupid or what. Anyways, this is my cry yourself... or pity yourself to sleep song. Every time I hear it or play it on guitar, I start thinking about my whole life. I think it's a very encouraging song to people who've been bullied and left out of the crowd...and I'm one of those people. I personally think when Jason's saying "And I have felt the same as you," it's implying that you're not the only one. In a way, it kind of has a romantic edge to it. I made up a music video for it in my head (yeah, I'm a weirdo) and it's kind of romanticish. Anyways, fantastic song. Oh, and by the way...I'm getting married to Jason Wade. |
Travis – Re-Offender Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought this was about the Way's grandmother? I don't know..neither do I really care. This is the only okay MCR song...everything else reminds me of a boy band with guitars. Sorry. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh and Aersomith!!! Hahaha the way he did the Steven Tyler/Jason Perry thing... incredibly OUTSTANDING! |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I honestly thought this song wasn't all that great compared to the old school RHCP stuff but I got to say...the video for this RULES!! After I saw the video last week, I started to kind of like the song.. I still think that songs like Under the Bridge and Scar Tissue, Can't Stop, and Californication are way better but I must say, they made a pretty sweet video which really helped the song. Anyone notice that he's mimicking bands from like...the Beatles to Nirvana to Green Day? I got a kick out of that. |
Dem Franchize Boyz – Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When I rock, I don't lean with it. That's all I have to say. |
The Beatles – Let It Be Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think "Mother Mary" is referring to Jesus' mother...I don't know, but I do know that Catholics often pray to Mother Mary. I'm not sure if McCartney is Catholic or not but yeah. My interpretation of this song is about world peace...you know, anti-war and stuff. |
Dashboard Confessional – Age Six Racer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh and by the way, people who live in Lexington are really lucky. |
Dashboard Confessional – Age Six Racer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
All this time I thought it was called So Long Sweet Summer! Dude...why is it called Age Six Racer? Where the heck does that COME from? |
Dashboard Confessional – Vindicated Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Out of all the Dashboard songs, I think this one is the worse...I don't think it carries the same emotional songs like Ghost of a Good Thing and Hands Down have. To me, lyrically, it sounds like something 3 Doors Down or Nickelback. |
Dashboard Confessional – Ghost of a Good Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this is a love song about chasing after what you've lost. "Chasing the ghost of a good thing" 'The ghost' is mostly likely what you can actually get your hands on...which might just be looking or thinking about the girl/guy and 'a good thing' is actually thing. I could be wrong but that's how I see it. |
Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
*sigh* Is it always necessary for people to relate songs to their love relationships? Anyways, from "The streets were wet and the gate was locked" is my favorite part of the song. It's really amazing how it's nothing profound...in fact, it's telling a story like a country song would, but then again, we just can't stop falling in love with Chris whining, "And you kissed me like you meant it." *sigh* I think I'm going to go listen to it right now. *runs off* |
Keith Urban – Tonight I Wanna Cry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I bet when he first wrote this it was "swallow my pride," and then he changed it to "to hell with my pride" when he realized it was cliche. |
Damien Rice – Unplayed Piano (with Lisa Hannigan) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Have you realized that in the second verse the female singer is saying something between the lines? I wish I knew what she was saying. |
Aerosmith – Fly Away From Here Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The lyrics are so simple...straight to the point. You know, that's what I love about Aerosmith. Tyler says exactly what he means and though it might be the plainest clichest thing ever, when it slurs for Steven's lips...there's nothing that can compare. I don't care what people say about Steven's singing--the boy's got passion written all over him. |
Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Aerosmiths guitarist Joe Perry apparently worked with Eminem to come up with some new and original solo's for his version." Joe Perry did...what? Well, thank God for that "apparently" up there. Hopefully, this is just a rumor..otherwise, my respect for Joe Perry just dropped a few notches. Sorry if that came out harsh but, I really--really dislike. it. |
Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I listen to this song when I'm mad, and I think I'm not getting anywhere in life. But then again, it makes me feel like even a bigger failure especially with everyone using "Dream on" as a joke on the lines of "When pigs can fly." Anyway, overall, I think this is a very nice inspirational song, and I think the reason why it's so popular because so many people can relate to it. Including Eminem, who totally...ruined it. But, that's another story. |
Staind – So Far Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When I first read the lyrics to this song and listened to it at the same time, I seriously started crying. "I am so afraid, of waking, Please dont shake me, i am afraid of awaking, please dont shake me" And after hearing this, I just broke down and lost it. I learned to play it on guitar and if I wasn't listening to it, I was singing it or playing it all day long. I had no idea it was being worn out on the radio (I don't listen to the radio) but even if I had known, I probably still wouldn't have liked it any less... Anyways, on to the point, when I saw the video I got a much better feel for what they were probably talking about when they wrote it. According to the video, seems like, they never thought they'd make it as far as they did. Even though I AM a recording artist but haven't made it anywhere yet, it makes me think about how am I right now--stuck in this rut and not going anywhere for some reason. In a way, I see it from the perspective of what it will be like if I do get somewhere but--okay, now I'm rambling. |
Pink – Family Portrait Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I don't want love to destroy me Like it has done my family" For a pop/r&b song, whatever it is...I don't like this kind of music, but I think that's a pretty nice line. I can rally relate to it, but not because my parents are divorced (they're still happily married) but, among my cousins, aunts, uncles and so forth...similar situations come to mind when I hear this song and trust me, even though MY parents are together...it's not like my cousins' are and it affects the whole family in some ways, ya know? And is it just me, or is Pink saying at the VEEERY beginning of the song, "This is the new sh!t?" Seems like it... |
Damien Rice – Unplayed Piano (with Lisa Hannigan) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song goes good with my dad's cellphone ringer. ANyways, I don't see this song about Aun San Suu or whoever..I feel bad for her but, I see this as being mad because our baby grand piano is broken. *shrugs* Only, it doesn't sit by a window. I wish it did, though. |
Showbread – Mouth Like A Magazine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Lyrically, I think this song could be taken as a really vague male version of Hollaback Girl (as much as I hate that song and the rest of Gwen Stefani's solo project). Heh. However, Showbread is one of my favorite bands and this has to be one of my favorites by them. It takes "emo" issues but doesn't make you want to run to the bathroom, cover your eyes in eyeliner, lose 20 pounds, and put on your sister's jeans. |
Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love the lyrics of this song no matter how emo it is. |
Led Zeppelin – Black Dog Lyrics | 18 years ago |
As much as I love Led Zeppelin (favorite band), this song, by looking at the lyrics looks like a rap song...and I totally hate that. I love the music but I'm not diggin the lyrics--Plant must've written this one... |
Teddy Geiger – A Million Years Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah I agree with spastic kitty. This is my favorite Teddy Geiger song...people need to learn more than 'For You I Will (With Confidence)' |
Led Zeppelin – Immigrant Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Vikings? How...blah. |
Neil Young – Cinnamon Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wonder if he's talking about a native american, light-skinned black girl, or a tanned white girl... I have no idea. I've been trying to figure this out for the longest. |
Switchfoot – Amy's Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Burglewood: Your definition of the song could have been helpful but it just turned out to be really...vague. Anyways, though it may not be what Jon says it means, I see this song as being about a young martyr...and from this song, I got the inspiration to write a song about a martyr, myself and it's called "Paper Boy." But who cares...this song rocks...me and my sister play it on guitar (me) and drums all the time..it's soo cool. |
Lifehouse – Breathing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, this song carries three meanings...the thing about God..more of less of that though because all the words don't seem to match that. Then, the whole relationship thing...when it comes to guys, I can very easily put my situation into this song but most of all, this song reminds me of someone dying and the person left knows that they can't be with them but they just wanna sit "Outside heaven's door and listen to you breathing." Seems right to me. |
D4L – Laffy Taffy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Makes me feel awkward eating a Laffy Taffy. Every time someone says Laffy Taffy people start giggling or start singing the song...and gosh I hate rap...and why must they torture the innocent candy company? And what is it with rappers taking from other songs? Is this what they call art? I mean, taking riffs (and words, too) from nice songs by Sting, Aerosmith, and Ozzy...come on guys, stick with your beats and "bling~bling" and be "creative" someplace else...I don't care if you got the say-so. I'm tired of everytime I play Crazy Train some kid shouts, "Omygosh! She's playing Let's Go by Trick Daddy!" Um, no. There was a Crazy Train long before there was a Trick Daddy. And then there goes the video games...Lil Flip gets sued for using Pac Man bleeps...and now here they are with Willy Wonka candy. Jesus, they're contaminating the entire planet. Next it will be, "Girl, shake that Fender Strat! That Fender Strat!" and that ...Would make me REALLY mad... sorry about that, I just had to vent. But on a serious note, it should die down eventually. Look at the Tootsie Roll..no one sings that crap anymore. |
Gavin DeGraw – Chariot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like the whole Mother Earth idea! He DOES refer to Mother in another one of his songs (We Belong Together from Triston and Isolde), so that could be it. Golden waves are walking down upon this face...hm...I could see that as being intrepreted as the sun and what a creative way to put it..geez how come I can't write like that. But when it comes to talking about a girl...I pray that's not what that means, because even without a perverted mind, this song would be flat-out disgusting and by listening to Gavin's other stuff he doesn't seem to be that kind of writer. And seriously guys, if "chocolate covered cherries" means something else besides "chocolate covered cherries," maybe this song needs to be kicked off the radio...along with "Laffy Taffy." |

Switchfoot – The Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh yeah, and I forgot to add, this is one ofthe most beautiful song I have EVER heard. I bought the CD on the way to a party (went and got the person who's party I was going to another CD) and I played 1, 2, 3 and 12. When I got home and got in my bed, I listened to 1 through 6 and when I got to 6...I put it on repeat and I swear, that song stayed on repeat for about 3 days...it was all I listened to. I've known about Switchfoot since their first Album the Legend of Chin came out in 1997 and I started listening to them in 2001 when Learning to Breathe came out but listening to that song was the moment I realized Jon Foreman was my role model..and since that day back in October, when I was laying in my bed crying because the song was so beautiful (and it's weird because I'm not that much of an emotional person for stuff like that), Switchfoot, and more specifically Jon Foreman has been such an influence on me and my music career. |
Switchfoot – The Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, obviously, someone didn't read the statement the person who wrote it made: "a long meandering song about how the end of the world might actually be a beautiful day. It will be a day like this one when the world caves in." Just like Foreman himself said, the song is talking about how the "When the world caves in" it won't be such a bad thing. "It'll be a day like this one, When the sky falls down, And the hungry and poor and desserted are found" See, this line is your redeeming value. Don't always look for the main point in the end. And it is NOT: "Is there an night life, that could break our fall? " It's "Is there ANY NET LEFT, that could break our fall? " |
