I know I am not like the rest of the Gin Blossom's fans. I'm a 15 year old girl. But when I was little my dad was in a band that practiced every Wednesday in our garage with a few other lifeguards. They played a lot of Tom Petty, Stray Cats, and most importantly-- Gin Blossoms. There's no reason why I'm commenting on this song rather than the others, it just happens to be the one I'm listening to. My dad gave up all hope for the Gin Blossoms when Doug died. He thought their second album was a flop, but I don't think he realized that Doug only wrote half of their stuff on the former. A few months ago I realized the band was still going, touring even. We tried to get tickets to see them at the Coach House in Capistrano... but stuff didn't work out. We did, however, start listening to the Gin Blossoms all the time again. I appreciate their music so much now and they are definitely one of my favorite bands.

Just read your comment, came looking for the meaning of this song, which I knew already but was checking anyhow, and read your words, I'm 39, grew up in the 90s and listen to goo goo dolls and collective soul and a myriad of others. Gin blossoms floated through this life with me, never knew Doug had killed himself but I know his struggle and it's a hard one.
Just wanted you to know I shed a tear tonight for Doug, because of this post. You like good music, stick with it. I just looked up their no chocolate cake album,...

Thank you.
