Burning My Soul Lyrics
The music in this song is so badass. I hadn't really listened to Falling into Infinity much, but I got the Live in Tokyo/5 Years in a LIVEtime dvd and always was like, "wth, I've never heard this song before o_O" and like half the other stuff on the 5 Years part XD, as well as The Silent Man even though I listened to Awake a lot at that time, just probably not that song. My whole Dream Theater thing happened back in late July this year and I had downloaded all of their albums already (almost) and was obsessed with I&W (I still am, it's my favorite still so far.), now I'm just getting around to finally letting everything sink in because I've also started with other bands, too (Opeth, dredg, Modest Mouse, ELP, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Porcupine Tree, The Cure and some other stuff) Recently I pretty much got everything I could want right now so I'm gonna stop buying music all the time and just let everything sink in whenever it feels like it, hehe. about the song, well, I think it is kind of obvious o.o
Well, that's my life story =) o.O
runs off to go finish listening to Falling into Infinity all the way through for the first time
Oh yeah, I let my little step brother have my burned copy of Once in a LIVEtime and a bunch of other stuff I actually bought now. He got through the first few tracks on the first disc and his reaction was pretty much, " DREAM THEATER. HOLY SHIT. OMGPLKJDFJ|RAWR|AKJS/spaz drool"
o___O
It's okay, just smile and nod your head. >_>
Yeah, both the music and lyrics are badass and great! It just gives you a boost. This is my favorite part:

Lmao your quite the talker but your like me lol "ZOMGDUHDUAH" lots of Bnet experience from that... Anyways ya this song it awesome the "I say its green and you tell me its red" is kinda funny just made me think and laugh for a second once I thought but like ya good song
I love the opening baseline, it just has the funkiest beat. Totally underrated, both the song and the album.
This is one of those songs that I hated at first, but after I let it grow on me I fell in love with it.
So this is about DT's struggle with their producers or something? I could look on the DT forums and post it here but it doesnt matter. Great song either way.
Social and academic pressures are the main causes of stress. This song is a rant-and-relieve song.
Cool song, like most from Infinity I wasn't too keen toward it at first, but it grew on me. I like the bass. I always thought it was "I see it's green and you tell me it's red." as opposed to "I say it's green and you tell me it's red." I 'see' it's green to me makes more sense because it's as if the person knows that someone is lying to their face and they're calling the other person out, whereas if it were I 'say' it's green, it would be like they believe that someone is lying to them yet they're unsure.
Rage, and individuals who bring it. It seems like this song is one gigantic rant against particular people who know just how to press your buttons in a way that makes you upset. These same people are ones who don't understand that they are doing wrong, or at least they pretend not to. Mike Portnoy could have written this in response to the record producers once again, but it could also be about others that bother him. We all have people like this in our lives.
Great song, but this one part gets me:
"We've got someone Who can think for you instead And he sounds just like the last one"
What could they mean by that?
@eatyourmumshead : Probably a reference to a record producer who wanted to write songs for them, but he's just like all the rest of the record producers: hit makers and that's all, no sense of individuality or musical creativity.
