Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Lots of people talk and few of them know
Soul of a woman was created below, yeah

You hurt and abuse tellin' all of your lies
Run 'round sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize
Sweet little baby I don't know where you've been
Gonna love you baby, here I come again

Every day I work so hard
Bringin' home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away
Don't know where you're goin'
Only know just where you've been
Sweet little baby, I want you again

Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
Ahh, ahh
Ahh, ah
(Ahh)

Oh, yeah, alright, alright
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah

Oh don't leave me so confused, no
Oh, baby

Been dazed and confused for so long, it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Take it easy baby, let them say what they will
Tongue wag so much when I sent you the bill
Oh, yeah, alright

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

she must be one of those girls who plays tons of games to make him want her more by playing hard to get and she's able to do it good too obviously he thinks she's super hot "lord how they hypnotize". but at the same time she drives him crazy and frustrates him because "Wanted a woman, never bargained for you." well.. i'd definitally take that as an insult if i were her. and even though i can in no way relate to the lyrics WOW this song is awesome! it has so much emotion and mmmm everything is perfect. i do have to get a really super long version of this song i'd listen to it so often.! lol maybe someday i'll learn how to play it with a bow. that would b fun.

i am only 16 and zeppelin was way before my time but they are the best band ever created. I have noticed that Led Zeppelin band t-shirts have become really popular and this kind or makes me mad because all of the people that i see wearing this shirts, couldnt name a single zeppelin song if their lives depended on it. Then there are the true zeppelin fans like me that wear the t-shirts cuz i like the band and every one thinks that i wear them just to follow along with some fad, and that really pisses me off

    My Interpretation
I believe the song is about a woman who enjoys playing games and using deception/manipulation and other cover-up techniques in a relationship. Maybe most of the guys she's used to dating are either suckers who are too blind to see past her bullshti and games, or complete assholes with whom she probably only wants sex. This one (the singer), however, seems to genuinely love her, but she's probably not very used to that, and so chooses to punish him in the same way she deals with other asshole men (assuming he's the same, when he probably isn't). "Wanted a woman never bargained for you" He really liked her, she did not see her in a materialistic or possessive way. "Lots of people talk and few of them know Soul of a woman was created below, yeah" She might be a social butterfly, with a lot of superficial connections, but no one really knows her or "gets" her. Also, her TRUE SELF, "the soul created down below", is who she really is, but I think she hates that side of herself, and chooses instead to be a mask. The singer, however, somehow sees past that unto who she really is, a person too detached from her true self, from her soul who is still deep down below. "You hurt and abused tellin' all of your lies Run around sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize Sweet little baby I don't know where you've been Gonna love you baby, here I come again" He knows that she is a woman who has definitely been through a lot of pain and misery, but, unfortunately, precisely because of that, she chooses to hide herself from the world, and be something else instead, a literal figure of bullshit, an empty shell with nothing except pain inside of it. He knows this, and he also knows that's why she's false and perhaps even a little hostile, and is trying his best to take that into account because he loves her, he wishes to be with her all the same. "Every day I work so hard Bringin' home my hard earned pay Try to love you baby, but you push me away" He does his best to prove he is worthy of her, his love and devotion for her, but, somehow, that scares her, and so she pushes him away, hurting him in the process. "Don't know where you're goin' Only know just where you've been Sweet little baby, I want you again" He is unaware of her current whereabouts, he only knows the hell she comes from, and the horrors she might have lived in the past. He really wants to be with her. "Take it easy baby, let them say what they will Will your tongue wag so much when I send you the bill" Because she's a social butterfly, she's probably very receptive to the opinions of others, and somewhat suggestible precisely because of that. He's trying to tell her to calm down, because none of that really matters. The last sentence is curious. I think that in the final verse the singer no longer feels the same as in the beginning of the song, and only seeks to make a clean departure from everything. However, he knows that she probably won't like it very much once he sends her the bill of all the fuck-ups she's been doing in the relationship this entire time, before he leaves her. She is a disentegrated essence of pain, hidden behind a shallowed, empty mask, that comes from a world of abuse, and she has no way of being true. Once the singer truly realized this, he leaves her.

Is it just me or does Plant seem to get off on Pages whaling guitar around about 2 minutes into the song. This song seeps into every part of my being.. simply hypnotic.

this song really does have a mood behind it, when you listen to it, it REALLY gets into you, I mean a way that you actually need to play it when your dazed and confused, I did when like 4 girls asked me out, I just sat in my living room and played this song until objects in our neighbors house fell over.

just fyi this song was origanally written by the yardbirds (which page, beck, and clapton were all a part of at one time) then in the middle of the yardbirds tour the band broke up cept page and he had to keep touring so he hired people to be in his band and Pete Townshend (lead guitarist of The Who) said that the band "will go down like a led zeppelin" meaning that the band wont make it far in the music career and the band decided to take Led Zeppelin as their name.

1.Shitface is right--it was stolen from Jake Holmes by the Yardbirds. 2.Jimmy Page has said numerous times that it was Keith Moon who coined the "Lead Balloon" line. 3.Great song but unnecessarily long in concert.

Cranberries, The
"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference. "Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken - Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over" Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead. "But you see it's not me It's not my family" References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.

I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.

Alma Matters
Morrissey
The man has pseudo-friends who constantly criticize his actions. They moralize him, "teach" him and advise him to make a significant change in his life, because the way he is and what he does is not what they say it should be. They may find his life lame or immoral. They hold themselves up as role models. The man replies that he will make his own choices and decisions and he does not agree to unconditionally make himself under the influence of questionable quality advice. He justifies this by saying that there is always someone for whom he will be important, no matter what he does and no matter what he is. Although it is not said directly, I read it as meaning that he will always be important to himself in every way and he will always have his own support. "Everyone is different and maybe that's a good thing, but you exceeded that mark 1000 times" - I remember very well how sad the words I once heard (from my peers and it was in negative context) at school made me feel.
