Up Where We Belong

This is might easily be interpreted as a romantic love song, like many songs that were interpreted as romantic love songs at the first glance but really arent about that kind of love... This one is about the love, peace, acceptance & connectedness between all humankind. Life is tough & full of hardships but what will make it better is when there is love we feel for one another & this love will lift us up where we belong, it will transcend all, cure all, it will make miracles... this love will lift us up from the difficult world in which we know... that world of wars, conflict, hate, judgment, prejudice, discrimination, resistance... ll this will be left behind or down under when we love & accpt one another. Let's not hang on to the past & the look behind us, what happened is over & there is nothing we can do to change it... let's forgive ourselves for hurting others & forgive others for hurting us because time runs out & it'd be a waste to cry over the past... ALL THAT MATTERS IS LIVING IN THE PRESENT MOMENT, IN THE NOW, because that's all we've got & we have a lot to look forward to...

From the movie An Officer and a Gentleman. Joe Cocker is wonderful. Did I say WONDERFUL:) The lyrics have already been well-explained. As for the movie, it's silly fantasy. It doesn't happen that way in real life. We make the most of what hand we are dealt and continue moving forward for that's all anybody can do. We mourn loss and then we try to heal, and not carry the baggage with us into future relationships. And hopefully we learn something valueable...what we did correct; wrong; etc so we don't repeat our mistakes. We will always miss what we thought could have been, but we feel a little comfort knowing that we loved and just maybe we were loved in return, at least we hope we were. Happy Weekend, Everyone. Go out and have a good time with someone who makes your heart skip a beat because life is too short for anyone to be alone and unhappy.
