The Fine Art Of Falling Apart Lyrics

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and I
I rock myself to sleep
Baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For people like you
And horrors like me

A time of darkness
There lived a girl in a cave in the woods
Disguised as a bee
At night she would fly into the city
Sting the cause
And sting the cost
And she would hover over me
Whispering
And so we sing
We're surfacing
We're surfacing

I stand alone and I
I fight alone and I
Stay clean by feeling cheap
And baby, there ain't enough room in this world
For perfection's like you
And monsters like me

A time of darkness
You will look absurd and you will feel inert
And you will go looking to blame somebody
You see I used to think that I'd get over everything
But everything just got
over me

I'm some of it
You're some of it
We're some of it
I'm certain of it

I walk alone and I
I ride alone and you know
That's all right by me
See baby cause
here ain't enough room in this world
For a great, great many things

I think this is possibly the saddest song I have ever heard. The rythum just adds to this.

My favourite line is:

You see I used to think that I'd get over everything But everything just got over me

So hauntingly sad.

i think the title captures the whole song; it is the fine art of falling apart.

"i walk alone and i ride alone"

Matt Good's aneuristic lyricsm always provides an insight and from these lines, the loneliness of the world when everything starts falling apart is captured here.

"There ain't enough room in this world/For people like you/And horrors like me"

The justification of giving up he offers hits too close to home; we're falling apart and "looking to blame somebody" so we don't die for nothing. Everyone just wants to remembered.

"I'm certain of it"

Ever felt everything collapse? There's so much unknown. But if you're certain of it, you're that much closer to fixing yourself.

sad, rainy day music.

the desperation and hoplessness, the self-loathing... it's hard to imagine he could get that down so perfectly without actually being there himself..... i'd venture to say that matt was feeling nearly suicidal when he wrote this..... it's absolutely beautiful, even if it is depressing as all hell this song actually helped me get through a bad time, just knowing i wasn't the only one who felt like that......

Yea thats perfect - "It's absolutely beautiful, even if it's depressing as hell" couldn't of said it better myself.

My god what a beautiful song. "I stand alone and I I fight alone and I Stay clean by feeling cheap And baby, there ain't enough room in this world For perfection's like you And monsters like me" sad, but beautiful. could it be anymore honest?
