Dancing Barefoot Lyrics

She is benediction
She is addicted to he
She is the root connection and
She is connecting with me

Here I go and I don't know why
I spin so ceaselessly
Could it be he's taking over me?

I'm dancing barefoot
Headed for a spin
Some strange music drags me in
It makes me come up like some heroine

She is sublimation
She is the essence of thee
She is concentrating on
He who is chosen by she

Here I go when I don't know why
I spin so ceaselessly
Could it be he's taking over me?

I'm dancing barefoot
Headed for a spin
Some strange strange music drags me in
It makes me come up like some heroine

She is recreation
She intoxicated by thee
She has the slow sensation that
He is levitating with she

Here I go when I don't know why
I spin so ceaselessly
Till I lose my sense of gravity

I'm dancing barefoot
Heading for a spin
Some strange music drives me on
Makes me come up like some heroine

Oh God, I feel for you
Oh God, I feel for you
Oh God, I feel for you
Oh God, I feel for you

Indeed Patti Smith cover but this was like in 1986 or something...you can find it also in the OST of the movie Threesome.

I recall this being a b-side in the Rattle and Hum timeframe (89-90.) I also recall enjoying this as a b-side moreso than most of Rattle and Hum itself.

I'm such an idiot, it took me a few years from that to learn about Patti Smith. Now I only listen to the Patti Smith version. One of the best songs of all time...

Hey! This makes 4 postings for Dancing Barefoot on the U2 page while I only saw 2 postings for this song on the Patti Smith page... Maybe I'll wander over and spend some time alone on the Leonard Cohen pages...

This is a deep song, which is why I think Bono chose to cover it. At first it sounded like a 60's "drug trip is like a divine rapture." But reading the original Patty Smith lyrics and the extra verse about childbirth, makes me think this is about woman and her connection to creation.
