I speak outside what is recognized as the border between "reason" and "insanity". But I consider it a measure of my humanity to be written off by the living graves of a billion murdered lives. And I'm not ashamed of my recurring dreams about me and a gun and a different species (hint: starts with "h" and rhymes with "Neuman's") of carnage strewn about the stockyards, the factories and farms. Still I know as well as anyone that it does less good than harm to be this honest with a conscience eased by lies. But you cannot deny that meat is still murder. Dairy is still rape. And I'm still as stupid as anyone, but I know my mistakes. I have recognized one form of oppression, now I recognize the rest. And life's too short to make another's shorter-(animal liberation now!).

General CommentThis is the band that has indirectly made me veggetarian. I was on their site, saw a link to another site, clicked it, read it all and it all made sense and I realized how sick meat really is.

General CommentVegan theme song, yo! I love this song, it's what helped me give up dairy and eggs (I was already veggie). It's about how we put human lives above all others, and spelling out what we do to animals in 'human terms' ('meat is still _murder_. Dairy is still _rape_.) If we did to humans what we do to animals, we would be put away.

General CommentDescartes disected animals (Could have expiremented on them, I can't remeber), he beleived that the brain fluids of animals contained their "spirit" and when they would die, the spirit would live on. I'm pretty sure the tilte of the song has to do with his disections and possible expirementations.

General CommentThe full title of this song is 'Nailing Descartes to the Wall/(Liquid) Meat Is Still Murder'.

Rene Descartes was a 17th century philosopher who postulated that animals are merely biological machines who cannot suffer or feel pain, and that any reaction they might have is purely mechanical. Descartes is at least partly responsible for the prevalence of this view at at the time. As a result vivisection was carried out without anaesthetic for many years, and indeed is still carried out today.

General CommentDescartes famously nailed his wife's dog to the wall by its paws to dissect it, hence "Nailind Descartes to the wall"

General CommentFor those of you who don't know (I just figured this out, too), the line "Me and a gun and a different species" references the song "Me and a Gun" by Tori Amos, which is about rape. It really comes together when you consider the straightforward, spell-it-out blunt lyrics, "Meat is still murder / Dairy is still rape."

This is a fantastic song, easily one of the best from the album!

General CommentWow if you guy's became vegan because of a song you're easily influenced. You're no worse than the German people falling for Nazi propaganda
