Mmm

Better with the lights on
We can play my favorite song
Looking at me, take one shot, two shot
Hit deeper, taste sweeter
Good but it feels wrong
I can last so long
Looking at me, take three shot, four shot
Throat heat up, get sweeter

Hmm
It's so hard, babe, loving me
I'm like a whiskey, you can feel it
Hit so strong but taste so sweet
There's no loving me, no way
You say you need me, but you don't know me
I'm the dark type, forever lonely
Hit so strong, but tastes so sweet
There's no loving me, no way

There's no loving me (no way)
There's no loving me (no way)
There's no loving me, no way, no way (no way)

I know you know what it is
I can tell you know it hits
Let your feelings go, you've been working so hard
Put the week down
Pray in a space with me, hand on my heart now

Oh, beat it up
I know how to mix it up
Let your body go with the slow as we grow with the weekend
Take five shots, six shots, oh

It's so hard, babe, loving me (it's so hard)
I'm like a whiskey, you can feel it
Hit so strong but tastes so sweet
There's no loving me, no way
You say you need me, but you don't know me
I'm the dark type, forever lonely
Hit so strong but taste so sweet
There's no loving me, no way

There's no loving me (if you love me, baby)
There's no loving me (if you need me, baby)
There's no loving me, no way, no way
There's no loving me (no way)
There's no loving me (no, no loving me)
There's no loving me, no way, no way

    My Opinion

One of the biggest hints that can be the highlight the personality of the song can be explained in the first verse.... for example ''Better with the lights on, we can play my favourite song, looking at me, take one shot, two shot...'' This verse can carry a meaning that is completely devoid of any sentimental position. Just a point of an indication that the lights are on and their favorite song is playing... right after one or two shots; with the effects of alcohol. It definitely can be the main theme of the song is that ''they refer to how far they feel about love or being loved, just what they want, just what they want to feel or to be identified...''

''It's so hard, babe, loving me I'm like a whiskey, you can feel it Hit so strong but taste so sweet There's no loving me, no way''

Don't these verses say to you, "Yeah, it's hard to love me and I'm not ready to love you or either you loving me? But how about a night with me?" I bet they are on point for this meaning. Also, they go with the power of alcohol in the verses

''...like a whiskey, hit so strong but taste so sweet...''?

We know that whiskey has a strong taste. Perhaps we know that only those with a special taste drink whiskey. Perhaps Sam may have mentioned in these lines that "only those who can understand their taste''.

''You say you need me, but you don't know me'' is a definitely a whole another definiton for a significance for ''You think you love me, need me, feel something for me but I'm not the one you think you want for...''. They know that they are certain for what they want; they are ''the dark type, forever lonely; hit so strong but taste so sweet.''. They emphasize that they are just in there for physical, not emotional. They know that they won't be loved at the end of the interaction; there's only the desire for their who they are.

It is possible to understand the distance from the person's desire for love by their emphasizing for the lyrics in lyrics ''there's no loving me, no way'' throughout the last 6 lines. They are making sure that they are just in there for the physical interplay with that person. (Maybe, just maybe, they are just feeling, emphasizing their feelings in this way because of their past interactions... who knows?)

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
