I can see in your eyes that you mean it.
I can feel in your arms that it's true.
And though I just heard myself say it,
Baby, I'm lying to you.

All of these years you've been lonely,
And knowing not what you should do.
And though you are right, I've been looking as well.
Babe, I'm not looking for you.

I'm just as damn disappointed as you,
Only I just do better to hide it.
And the one thing that keeps me from falling for you,
Is I'm truly alone and I like it.

As we lie in bed I feel lonely,
Though we're young, I feel eighty years old.
And your arms around me are keeping me warm.
But baby, I'm still feeling cold.

And girl you must know you are lovely,
You're kind and you're beautiful too.
And I feel in some way I do love you
But babe, I'm not in love with you.

It may seem strange that still I stay with you,
If it's true you're not really the one.
And why don't I just keep on looking for her?
Because I found her and now she is gone.

    My Interpretation

I find it really sad song, really is. I mean, the way it made me cry.. it's obviously talking about a wrong love in someone's life that kept going though both partners know they shouldn't, or maybe one of them knows and knows it's not the truth but "lying to" the other for fear of hurting them.

"I can see in your eyes that you mean it. I can feel in your arms that it's true. And though I just heard myself say it, Baby, I'm lying to you."

there, maybe it's the first time, when he accepts her, looking at her as if everything is okay and real, she tells him what she feels and hold him fully in love. And he goes along with her and say it back, but he knows deep inside he isn't.

"All of these years you've been lonely, And knowing not what you should do. And though you are right, I've been looking as well. Babe, I'm not looking for you."

they both seem to finally find each other after many years of lonliness. And it looks like they are the rescuers of each other. But for him, yes he is lonely and tired and searching for love, but actually she's not the one.

"I'm just as damn disappointed as you, Only I just do better to hide it. And the one thing that keeps me from falling for you, Is I'm truly alone and I like it."

when it comes to these lines, it seems that both know eventually they are wrong in being together. Maybe they are tired and bored with each other. She's just as disappointed as him but he hides it and pretend while she keeps weeping (I can relate this part so much to the couples who married and by degrees got bored of each other) But however, he's not really in love with her and feels better being without her.

"As we lie in bed I feel lonely, Though we're young, I feel eighty years old. And your arms around me are keeping me warm. But baby, I'm still feeling cold."

Those lines tell the same, just some proof he doesn't feel safe and secure in this love, doesn't feel the warmth he must have felt.

"And girl you must know you are lovely, You're kind and you're beautiful too. And I feel in some way I do love you But babe, I'm not in love with you."

Those lines are literally the ones that made me cry :) after all he's said. And I think they are breathtaking. He tells her how lovely and beautiful she is. She is perfect and everything. But he's just not in love with her. Maybe he's saying something to relieve her, that it's not her fault. He just can't help it.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
