i don't think this song is about sex at all. i do feel that is it about this man being so deeply in love with this girl, but she doesn't love him. also, i feel as if it could be interpretted as someone who had a friend/girlfriend who "lost" herself in away, but the she is beginning to feel like her old self again. either way....i love this song so very much! :)

Does anyone knows what this song means? especially the "turning black tables" line .. is it about life or is it turning a condition worse than it was before? Cheers

Your lyrics are a bit wrong there...The first few lines supposed to be "With your body and mind RESTORED" and also corrected would be "When the life in your eyes once BLACK" not back...other than those few wrong lyrics the rest are alright.

This song is about somebody coming home from the hospital after almost dying. They're coming home from the hospital with their body and mind restored after having a traumatic injury. Black tables are the cards missing, which would be that person's health. Anyways, thats my take on the song. I don't really think it has anything to do with a relationship at all, but that's just my opinion.

I agree with Imaye83. Someone who's had trouble/problems are coming back. I think "turning black tables" means leaving bad memroies behind (turn away bad memories/experience). The part where he sings "when the white of your eyes come through, it good to see some thing new", he means that when you look at a hard/difficult sitiuation with a bright, positive view , life will be much better, and you'll see new things.

This explanation also match with "When life in your eyes once black", a person who was struggling with his life, but has gotten better.

Who this person could be is a difficult question, but with my point of view, he could maybe be an ex-drug addict who's got clean, and have to deal with real life again, trying to forget the past. He could also be a solider, who comes back from war, and also have to deal with the problems.

Obviously this man has done severe detrimental damage emotionally to this woman to the point of no return. Almost with complete certainty he just let it happen and did nothing to prevent it and it almost seems like you may have intentionally made it worse; like a wife perhaps. It has a dark undertone to it. I agree with the card table explanation it says if he left her without a deck of cards ie Ripped her heart and soul out with nothing left. It’s such an aweful sad story to me

We should keep in mind that the members of the band changed their name from the comparatively nonsencisal Kunek to Other Lives for a reason. To me, the band is about exploring various probabilities in life, yet not just in the direct sense of what different paths in a single life that one can take. Yet something relating to the more esoteric aspects of past-lives. Which I think that this song is about.

Imagine a couple that meets again and learns that they have a past-life connection. Yet It's overwhelming for them both and they go back and forth on believing in the power of their connection and denying it. Hence the first two verses. "Turning Black Tables" would refer to the magic of how they both contribute to the awe and fear surrounding their relationship.
