Winter taking days.
Nights filled with longer hours
...

Winter solstice
passing by us
temperatures dropping
try us
With colder feelings
Black ice and hidden lusts
White sheets of snow concealing
Gloves on hands, with warmer thoughts
With plastic sleds cracking the newly [chouse/inaudible]
Huddling against the walls
Shrinking college trends, with the days living faster now
We cast our make pretend
Extra heat amends
A rising constant power
Darkness taking days

Nights filled with longer hours
...

Gotta jagged gorgeous winter from a summer's thread
All the lies you told about me they were totally totally totally true
Thinking through the noise you go back to bed
With your tinker tinker torch gotta think it think it think it through
...

Drag it out
...

...I think this song is about how winter reflects relationships. Both good and bad.

Firstly, I agree with JackFrost's interpretation

    To Syoaran,

Maybe "shrinking college trends, with days living faster now" relates how there used to be so many things to do back in college, but now everyone's busy and doesn't really have as much time as they used to. Trends shrink, and people confine themselves to jobs.. sometimes people don't really take the time to savor the moments around them. Time flies really fast when you don't do much with it.. before you know it, a long time's already past and you've fallen out of touch. I think this song's about cherishing the few moments you do have, hence the hours feeling longer than they actually are.

I respectfully disagree with Orange Morendo--I don't think that anything it wrong. I think that they're looking at all features that are normally associated as negatives as winter as positives. The cold is an excuse to huddle together and the increased darkness just means that the nights they spend together last that much longer. I may be reading this wrong, but I think basically things are romantically heating up between them as it get colder, hence the irony of "try us with colder feelings" leading into hidden lusts.

    My Opinion

Can't believe this song only has one (two) comment(s). It's so amazing. I don't like any of their other songs but this one is just amazing.

I'm not sure what the meaning of this song is. The weather seems to be reflecting the mood, or relationship, between two people. Something is wrong is all I can determine for sure. The days seem more like extended nights. Their thoughts are warm so I guess they're thinking about the problem a lot. I just happened across this song on myspace. It is glorious! Guy before me...their other songs are the shit. This band is solid.

The whole nights filled with longer hours and winter deal...

Haven't yall noticed that our days darken quicker during the winter? I think yall are trying too hard.

Like usually the sun sets at around 8:00 PM in Eastern NC during summer, but during the winter it gets dark as night at 5:00 PM :)

i think its about a relationship. this song uses alot of symbolism. if it was just about winter the ending part wouldnt fit in (Gotta jagged gorgeous winter from a summer's thread/All the lies you told about me they were totally totally totally true/Thinking through the noise you go back to bed/With your tinker tinker torch gotta think it think it think it through) i mean seriously it how do lies fit in with winter?? im absolutly sure its about a relationship.

    Correction. It should read:

"Thinking through the the noise you go back to bed. With your tinker , tinker toys, gotta think it, think it , think it through"

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
