So you're feeling like you're just a waste of space now?
and you keep feeling like you're always out of place
Don't you think it's strange you always feel the same now?

So you're feeling like you're just a waste of space now?
and you keep feeling like you're always out of place
Don't you think it's strange you always feel the same now?
Who measures the desperate measures, when it get's too tough remember

There is a space they just can't touch
and this pressure's on to be good enough
it's all the words that add weight trying to drag you down.

So you're feeling like you're just a powder keg now?
and you keep feeling like you've been cast away
Don't you think it's strange that it won't go away now?

So you think you're feeling like you can't be saved now?
and you keep feeling like everyone's taking aim
Do you feel you're being pushed and pulled and forced to change, now?
Who measures the desperate measures, when it gets too much remember

There is a space they just can't touch
and this pressure's on to be good enough
it's all the words that add weight trying to drag you down.

So remember you're still bulletproof
and remember the face stares back at you
no matter what they so no matter what they do
It can't be taken away from you
It can't be taken away and that's the truth.

So when you're feeling like you're just a waste of space now
and if you're feeling like everyone's taking aim
Don't you think it's strange we always feel the same now
Who measures the desperate measures, when it get's too much remember

There is a space they just can't touch
and this pressure's on to be good enough
it's all the words that add weight trying to drag you down.
It's all just words that add weight trying to drag you down.

This is my favorite song off GNV FLA. It's so damn catchy and inspirational.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Sunglasses at Night
Corey Hart
In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.
