My head was shaved
It's a pain sometimes I try to walk on by
A window broke I wonder what I get paid
Watch him die
A window now in every place
A witness spoke I wonder what I get paid
Watch him die
Wait and see the list of shit you made
Gotta see my heart's a darker place
Gotta be my soul's the one who pays
No comments? Well, I saw the music video on MTV a couple of hours ago. Closest example of an acid trip I've seen since then the real thing.
i say, bless that heart bless that soul brother. no age has got gewd influence.
If you go to this video on MTV.com or youtube, everyone HATES No Age. All showing this on MTV did was bring out the retarted opinions of...people who usually watch MTV! They say stuff like, "The drums are too loud...they should fire their producer." Its really funny, I reccomend taking a look.
99% sure this song is about an incident that happened a few years ago where Dean got in a car accident with one of the Backstreet Boys. It was the BBoys's fault (and he didn't have car insurance) so he gave Dean some out of court money which was later used to start the Post Present Medium record label.
It seems like this song is about way more than that.
The lines "Gotta see my heart's a darker place // Gotta be my soul's the one who pays" seem like they're talking about something more significant than an auto accident.
I don't know, it's actually a pretty good theory -- there are all kinds of layers of guilt that could come with this situation.

This could definitely be about getting into an accident and instantly thinking about how some much needed money is coming your when, THEN wondering if the other person is ok, and subsequently realizing you're priorities are dangerously out of of order and feeling a serious sense of shame.

The part you quoted could easily about trying to come to terms with unpleasant things you've learned about yourself, as well as the ways that unearned money can actually stunt your growth as a human.
hahah why the FUCk was this on MTV with all their stupid hip-hop shit? i mean i'm happy for them that they'd get more popular or whatever, but i'm sure most of MTV;s audience isnt into this
