That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) Lyrics
Little deaths in musical beds.
So, it seems I'm someone I've never met.
You will only hear these elegant crimes fall on your ears from criminal dimes.
They spill a-fowl from a pretty mouth.
(Hey!)
I never said I missed her when everybody kissed her.
Now I'm the only one to blame.
I feel the same.
I'm on my way.
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me and that's OK.'
I want to know what everyone knows.
I want to go where everyone feels the same.
I never said I'd leave the city.
I never said I'd leave this town.
A falling-out we won't tiptoe about.
I never said I missed her when everybody kissed her.
Now I'm the only one to blame.
I feel the same.
I'm on my way.
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me and that's OK.'
I feel the same.
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me and that's OK.'
(Well, things have changed for me.)
(Come on everybody, let's dance and sing.)
(Well I'm singin' it all night long, so come on everybody and join along.)
I feel the same.
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me and that's OK.'
(I'm sayin', 'Well, things have changed for me.')
(Come on everyone let's dance and sing.)
(Well I'm singin' it all night long, so come on everybody and sing along.)
I feel the same.
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me and that's OK.'
I'm on my way, and I'll say...
And I'll say, 'Things have changed for me.'

caddycake I caught that too. Musical orgasms. So Ryan still is his witty self.

Even though their style changed a little, I still like it. I'm excited for their new CD. :]

I love this song, its probably my new favourite after Mad as Rabbits. It sounds different recorded though, which is a shame, the live versions are way "back to basics" and its nice without all the add-ins.
Can't wait 'til Pretty. Odd.
Ryan either can't type or can't spell though! Lol, anyone notice that on the MySpace where he posted these it said "Gentelman" instead of "Gentleman"?

ooh, they took their cd title from one of their lyrics, i love that.
the second verse makes me think of all of the things that really go on behind elegant society, and how the pretty ones seem to always gossip about those things.
and i don't know about any of you, but the fifth verse reminds me of the little mermaid. it's weird that i've noticed a wizard of oz reference and a little mermaid reference. but it's pretty awesome.
can't wait to hear the full version.

about the little mermaid... ryan does love disney movies
i really like the song. im guessing its more of them talking about their music change but that they are still the same band just sounding different but better.

I think this song is a bit more sinister than people are considering. It sounds upbeat and happy and proclamatory and all that, but the lyrics aren't exactly joyous or anything.
The second line: "little death" in French becomes "le petit mort/la petite morte"---a euphemism for an ORGASM. I'm positive that this is what the line references... it's the kind of thing Ryan Ross might find clever.

I really like this songs. Espeically the first verse. I think its sort of about changing, but realising things are really good, even though they seem so different. Glad its gonna be the second single.

It's about a break up with someone he was very into and attracted too but he took it for granted.
First, He is Jealous but he is a gentleman about it still.
"Things are shaping up to be pretty odd. Little deaths in musical beds. So it seems I'm someone I've never met."
little death = Orgasm (associated with lust, not love) in musical (always changing) beds. Like musical chairs. The person isn't acting like they usually act. They are sleeping around a lot now. (usually natural after a break up)
"You will only hear these elegant crimes, Fall on your ears from criminal dimes. They spill unfound from a pretty mouth."
You only hear things like this said, from girls who are or think they are very attractive and sleep around a lot. "They spill unfound from a pretty mouth."
unfound = unfound truths, aka lies.
He is calling her a liar.
So these "elegant crimes" (call sex elegant) from criminal dimes (perfect 10 hottie) (also notice his connotations of calling her a criminal...Criminals Lie, cheat, and steal)
So the ex hottie gf now sleeps around, probally lies about it, or vice versa, lies about sleeping around a lot.
The Green gentlemen comes out in him because he is envious of her not being around anymore.
"everybody gets there and everybody gets their way.
"I never said I missed her when everybody kissed her, Now I'm the only one to blame." He never turned back for her and she is moving/moved on. He can only blame himself for that.
"Everybody gets there everybody get there, everybody gets their way."
Everyone gets to this point, time and place. the breaking point in a relationship. Orrr maybe everyone gets to this point where they just say whatever
Although he misses her a little he is a gentleman and realizes he is being envious. Everyone wins in the end.
I want to go where everyone goes, I want to know what everyone knows I want to go where everyone feels the same
he wants to feel normal?
I never said I'd leave the city, I never said I'd leave this town. A falling out we won't tiptoe about.
He never said he would exit her life? and he wont be quiet and sit down about it

I think little deaths in musical beds is referring to the death of their old self [things have changed.... etc] haha if that makes sense

this and i have friends in holy places my favorites right now
