This is a good song, but the subject matter is a little...unusual, in my opinion - it's about the online game Second Life. As someone who plays the odd bit of SL, I'm hoping that Duran eventually finish creating the virtual world they've got in the works for the game, so I can play around in it!
I have to completely disagree with you bubbletea. I don't think it means "Second Life" as in the virtual game. I believe its referring to a "second life"-- celebrity and the one you really live. Maybe not even that, but most definitely with a lower case not the game. Sorry to burst your bubble -- no pun intended I swear.
Going along with the life of celebrity, avatar is referring to an image one portrays, not necessarily one created on computers, etc. But a false persona put on, kind of like the whole "hiding behind the mask" cliche.
