The one you sold to fool the world
You lost your self-esteem along the way
Yeah
Good god you're dragging it out
Good god it's the changing of the seasons
I feel so raped
So follow me down
Fake it if you don't belong
Fake it if you feel like a infection
Woah you're such a fuckin' hypocrite
No sense in hiding all of yours
You gave up on your dreams along the way
Yeah
Good god you're dragging it out
Good god it's the changing of the seasons
I feel so raped
So follow me down
Fake it if you don't belong
Fake it if you feel like a infection
I can fake with the best of 'em all
I can fake with the best of anyone
I can fake it all
The one you sold to fool the world
You lost your self-esteem along the way
Yeah
Good god you're dragging it out
Good god it's the changing of the seasons
I feel so raped
So follow me down
Fake it if you don't belong
Fake it if you feel like a infection
Woah you're such a fuckin' hypocrite
Fake it if you don't belong
Fake it if you feel like a infection
Woah you're such a fuckin' hypocrite
This songs meaning is pretty clear-cut. I think "Who's to know if your soul will fade at all, the one you sold to fool the world..." It means that when you cast away your personality so that you can be what everyone else wants you to be, your soul can get damaged and you can lose your own sense of identity.
AMEN! I knew someone like that...OH, WAIT! No I didn't! Only that projection of what he wanted the whole entire world to see devoid of any personality. So sad. I weep.

This song is very clearly about Amy Lee. I laughed in fact the first time I heard the song. I had been reading biographies on Shaun and despite Amy's scathing media comments and lyrics from CMWYS there was still a perception that Shaun did not retort. I think what you are seeing is a shallow woman too superficial to intelligently conceal her contempt, and a talented and prolific songwriter way out of her league. Here is the funniest part I am an Evanescence fan and while I believe Amy is a talented songwriter and performer, she is seriously outmatched in this case. Give Shaun credit he lost his brother and has been through addiction, he is still here and facing the music (pun intended). He didn't use a media empire to deny anything, or point the finger at someone else (ala Amy Lee). Since I am old enough to have suffered through most of Shaun's experiences and I also have come out the other end I can say he has talent and a lot more character than Amy Lee can fathom until she finishes cutting teeth.
first comment. this song is brilliant.
lyrics are wrong... It clearly says 'I feel so raped'
I know, I thought the same..

Whoever typed these lyrics can't spell worth a $#!+. It is definitely who's not whose, and you're not your.
Oh yeah. This song is pretty self explanatory. It's about pretending to be what you're not to fit in. I really like the lyrics to it.
This song's pretty awesome. I agree with grungerocker.
Wow, it's so different, yet, it's still Seether. I'm pumped for the new album, this track is amazing. MEaning is obviousas GrungeRocker said. About being someone that you are not, just to fit in or w/e. Seether stole my convert virginity and they kick ass. RIP Eugene "Junior" Morgan.
I love this song! It really grows on you.
I agree with GrungeRocker too.
i love the lyrics, they deffinetly make scence and are pretty self explanitory as GrungeRocker said. this song is amazing.
