We Are Rockstars Lyrics
theres no place to go,
to be on your own
making friends and foes
watch the network grow,
when you're not online
standing all alone,
you have let them down
you're a download pal.
Its about how everyone is like a rockstar on the net. You can forget your real connections and soak yourself in Myspace, networks of people, making new little internet boyfriends and girlfriends. When you log off long enough, you realize what actually exists in life.
I think its about how today, because of online social networks like myspace, we can be whoever we want to be, and portray ourselves in whatever ways we want.
People can become celebrities, but in reality they're probably lonely and don't have real friends, and this song is a fun satire about that.
^i agree. And i get the impression that it's saying that the 'network' is almost taking over real life, so we're forgetting our real friends out there. Groovy song.
Does anyone know how i can get their album in the US? i heard them while i was over in europe, but I couldn't manage to grab a CD! Let me know!
Gosh, this song makes me so sad because you can see that this is actually what technology is leading us to. Self- Isolation. But the song is so rad, I can't stop listening to it!
Avi2starr: when they release thier album in march, you can order it from the usa online store. go to their official website, and it has all the links/more info. :)
The beginning to this song is definately the best part. Very strong sound, reminds me a bit of Hadouken! I don't think this song is depressing. After all, the Internet can be very isolating, but it can also offer a before unknown ability to express yourself. I personally think that this song is telling the story of Does It Offend You, Yeah's own history. They started off by just hanging out and making one song, Battle Royale, and putting it up on a Myspace page. Eventually, enough people started listening to it, that they made more songs. So, in essence, they became "rock stars in a download town"; they became well-known entirely on people listening to their music online.
the synth in this song kind of reminds me of Mr. Game and Watch in Super Smash Brothers. Similar sounds.
I think it's about how we are all robots to a certain extent these days.
i've been listening to this song for a while (mainly because i got it from nin.com, i fucking love nine inch nails) but i didn't really know the lyrics. the sad part is, it's totally true. the internet can totally claim your life. it's like a new-aged drug. i'm glad i caught Does it Offend You, Yeah while they're still up-and-coming. :D
Myspace.
