I don’t want to fight
Every single night
Everything I want is in your eyes.

You and me go back
To places I don’t know to care
The spoils of all I got were left as scraps.

Don’t let me say this,
but you’re no worse than me,
It’s crazy.

We all are real, if real ever was, it’s just because
We all are real, and feel we've had enough,
I’m real, ‘cause someone gave us sound.

I wanna be there when you’re happy
I wanna love you when you’re sad.

Can’t stand the morning rain
Get out and take your place then
Can’t stand the blazing sun
Then close your eyes you’ll see
The angel dust.

I don’t want to be
Anything for these
A million watts of sound can’t compare.

Come along you’ll see the world
The pulse ripples, the crowd unfurls
The current starts to flow and they are on.

Oh it’s a white hot soul they want,
sinful.

We all are real, if real ever was, it's just because
We all are real, every living soul
Yes I’m real, ‘cause someone gave us sound.

Don’t break the oath
I want to love you when you’re happy,
Don’t break this oath
I want to be there when you’re sad,
Please bring the pouring rain.

We all are real, as real as any ghost
So easy now,
We all are real, in every living soul,
Don't they know.

Can’t stand the blazing sun
Can’t stand the morning rain
Get out and take your place again.

I don’t want to be alone
I don’t want to be alone
I don’t want to be alone
Alone.

If it’s a white hot soul they want
It’s a black heart they’ll get.

For information's sake, the song is named "Tarantula" as a tribute to the band The Scorpions. Corgan and The Scorpions collaborated once and Corgan wanted to show his gratitude.

Great first single. Surpasses anything that was on the Machina album. It sounds like it could've been put on the Mellon Collie album, a sort-of mix of Here Is No Why, Zero, and Muzzle. Really excellent song.

I kind of think it's about awareness. If Corgan was not a singer in a rock band, nobody would pass a 2nd glance at him. I think he's sort-of putting himself down, saying that being a musician does not make him "above" any other person. A line that emphasizes this and that stuck out for me was "Yes I'm real, 'cause someone gave us sound". As to the title of the song, I have no clue why it was named Tarantula.

    Not sure about some lyrics:

Everything I want is in your eyes (light?) The angel die (dust?) It's a white hot soul they want, sinful (shameful?) You're real, as real as it goes (as real as any ghost?) 2nd: get out and take your places (place again?)

    anything else?

to me it sounds like talking about two things: 1) he stopped doing what he loved doing, which is to play to a lot of people, and affect a lot of people with his music, and 2) the zeitgeist as a whole is pretty apathetic, people are not being real to themselves or fulfilling their purpose, and need to take their place and brave the rain and sun to make a difference

to me, it's as inspiring as cherub rock.

It's really hard to understand what he's saying at some points, but here's what I think should be changed :

You and me go there to: You and me go back

The spoils of all I got were left to scrounge. to: The spoils of all I got were left for scraps.

Anything for these to: Anything beneath

I still hate the album art, but this song is good. I hope for more goodness.

I think part of it's about the idols of today's world & those who choose to follow them.

"Oh it’s a white hot soul they want, sinful." Referring to the idols themselves. "Sinful" may be referring to the idols as fakes & their immoral rise in the entertainment world. & "If it’s a white hot soul they want It’s a black heart they’ll get." Referring to the fans of these "phoney" idols & the wicked hearts they'll possess for encouraging them to succeed.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Sunglasses at Night
Corey Hart
In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.
