Underclass Hero Lyrics

I won't be caught living in a dead end job
While praying to my government guns and god
'Cause it's us against them
We're here to represent
And spit right in the face of the establishment

And now I don't believe
In having faith in nothing
Stand on my own
And got not sympathy
Wasting the youth
While being young and useless
Speak for yourself
And don't pray for me

Because we're doing fine and we don't need to be told
That we're doing fine 'cause we won't give you control
And we don't need anything from you
'Cause we'll be just fine and we won't be bought and sold
Just like you

(a call across the underclass)
Calling out loud with no respect
I'm not the one just another reject
I'm the voice to offend
All those who pretend
Unsung against the grain I'm here to rise against

And now I'm desensitized
I state my place in nowhere
Burning the flag of the degeneration
Everyone sing the anthem of no future
Down with the mass 'cause we're not listening

Because we're doing fine and we don't need to be told
That we're doing fine 'cause we won't give you control
And we don't need anything from you
'Cause we'll be just fine and we won't be bought and sold
Just like you

May I have your attention please?
I pledge allegiance to the underclass as your hero at large

We're the saints of degeneration
We don't owe anyone an explanation
Fuck elitists we don't need this
We're the elite of just alright

Because we're doing fine and we don't need to be told
That we're doing fine 'cause we won't give you control
And we don't need anything from you
'Cause we'll be just fine and we won't be bought and sold
Just like you

Heard this song on the radio last night. It certainly has the same energy I like from Sum 41 but they seem to be suck in the lame "being a high schooler in america sucks" mindset. I thought they would have matured in the past 5 years.

Also the guitar riff throughout the song is nearly identical to their song "Fat Lip" from All Killer No Filler. Listen to the first 10 seconds of each song, its unmistakable. Way to be creative guys...

You Guys Are Fags For Not Liking Immature Lyrics. Sum 41 And Blink-182 Came Up With Some Great Ass Music.

I'm 37. The first time I heard this song, I was at work, hating every minute of my job and the Nazi pricks I work for. I was driving down the road, making local deliveries when I heard it on an alternative station. It INSTANTLY cheered me up and motivated me to do something better with my life. About two months later, I'm at a new job and things are going well. I know the song is basically about the government, but it can also be applied to anyone that oppresses others and keeps them from enjoying life. I'd never heard of Sum41 until that day, but I'm glad I did. I think this song did a lot for me.

Anyone else think that the "may I have your attention please" part and the guitar "solo" sounds a lot like Green Day's "American Idiot?" I'm wondering if Sum41 is taking a sarcastic tone towards GD's "political activism." If they're making fun of Green Day with this song, I love it.

First off, I love the song. Second I've never understood why people see similarities between blink 182 and sum 41 but whatever, you guys have your own opinions. This definetely isn't applying to high schoolers, but to a general people that feels like the elite are always telling them what they should be and what perfect is. This song says fuck any higher powers who try to tell us who to be. We are who we are. That's just what I think it is... nothing immature about that message.

There are some definete lyric errors there but it's pretty good. I won't correct any of it cause I don't know all of the lyrics and I don't know for sure.

The beginning sounds an awful lot like Dumpweed by blink 182.

While this song is unmistakeably Sum 41 style, it is missing something. it just dosent have the uniquely inspiring element that made their other hits so great, I find it a very generic Sum 41 song.

I really hope Sum 41 dosen't lose their teenage immaturity and become too political like Green Day.

Anyone know why Brownsound left?

Deryck and Dave couldn't agree on a sound for the album or something like that.
