catchiest song in existence? i think so! it's sprinkled with nostalgia as i listen to it. i feel the protagonist is drowning in guilt and regret over something they've done ("memory keeps me back on my heels, like a cold wind, like a shadow follows me around") that they can't quite get over. yet he/she is beginning to accept that despite how they've felt about the situation for so long - trying to deny it or trying to hide from it, that's just life how is and that's just what they've become (and they inevitably can't change either).
I know I posted on this a long time ago, but this remains my favorite song of all time to this day.
