Pocketful of Money Lyrics
The sample is from "Gravedigger Blues" by Beat Happening.
one of my favorite jens lekman songs. the lyrics to me are just what i think of him: impulsive and candid but oh so beautiful.
i see the girl who he sings this song too initially responding brashly and unimpressed: "can't say you're pretty" "oh take me someplace decent" To say to a woman that you've got money that your looking to throw away, and that she should take the lead by planning the evening and picking the place, isn't traditional male courtship - but when it comes to the chorus (and huanting smaple) "you set my heart on fire" what person could remain uncharmed by such words?
Can't believe that no one has commented on this song...
I heard it for the first time last night and boy was i hooked... Had on repeat for 50 minutes...
Damn that song touch me!!
i love the background sample over and over "i'll come runnin' with a heart on fire" so good.
Finally someone who feels the same :D
Yes! I love the ending. This is probably my favorite on Oh You're So Silent Jens. Does anyone happen to know where that sample came from? Jens Lekman is great though. If only more people (in the states at least) actually knew who he was.
amazing song!
"but you turn my my legs to spaghetti and set my heart on fire"
well put, jens. well put!
i think this song is either about
a) going through the phases of being in a relationship with this girl. meeting her - going on a date - going crazy about her.
or
b) there is another girl he wants to be with. and the first 2 stanzas are saying he is willing to spend a whole months wage on some girl he hardly knows, as if to say 'this is what i'd do for her think about what i'd do for you.' and then the 3rd and 4th stanzas are asking the girl he really likes to take him some place perfect where they can be happy together and describing just how much she means to him. and then there's the amazing sample...
either way it's a fantastic song, from a fantastic album, from a fantastic artist.
"I can't say that you are pretty that would make me a liar but you turn my my legs to spaghetti and set my heart on fire"
great lyricism and when the sample kicks in... woah
amazing song from jens lekman of the burgeoning new indie capital that is sweden
i think this song is about someone who is trying to convey how much they feel for someone. he begins by saying how much money he would spend on someone he didnt even care about, wanting her to understand how much he would give her because he cared about her so much more than that.
