here's what i've been wondering: IS THIS SONG ABOUT A GIRL AT ALL? or is it a terribly clever description of a k-hole? witness:
"everything's so vivid and so creepy" "there's a hole inside my skull" "every night, a strange geometry"
First: "speaking in tongues" is a reference to the difficulty not only in describing a k-hole but in the physical act of speaking whilst embroiled in one.
"when the evening paints the streets, it's like walking on a trampoline." this is a possible reference to the feeling of "lightness" which accompanies the onset of a ketamine trip. And if you were taking it before going to a club or party (not necessarily wise, but hey--it's not unheard of), the nature of a k-trip (a couple of hours long, with the "light" feeling and collateral effects lasting, sometimes, into the next day) would suggest that you take it "when the evening paints the streets."
"All my senses sharp, my hands are fists" Not technically correct, as ketamine dulls taste and smell, but touch, sensitivity to sound (though not necessarily appreciation for it), and vision are all heightened dramatically.
"It's just this emptiness, I can't chase it away"... why do you think it's called a k-hole? Same for "There's a hole inside my head..." though this line is, admittedly, cribbed from some murderess or other's description of her mental instability.
The clincher is the line "but every night, a strange geometry," which is such an obvious description of "vitamin K"'s effect as to be unmistakeable. Users frequently describe seeing, in low light (thus, "every NIGHT"), intense and intricate geometric patterns resolving and dissolving before their eyes. Yes, Alasdair, I can only imagine things WOULD be pretty vivid and creepy once K "got over you."

Nice theory Owen. But unfortunately, i live really near this band (often in my local pub) in west london, and almost no one does ketamine in london. It just isn't done. That doesn't rule out the drug reference, but if you met these guys you might be a little doubtful of your theory, as they're lovely, but far too St Martin's for ketamine.

you could apply it to drugs, but it could also be about a woman, K. i listen to the song and it sounds exactly like the feeling of that, someone getting over you when you arent over them.
