In The Rough Lyrics

You say you fell while holding diamonds in your hand
It's your fault for running holding diamonds I said
And I offer no sympathy for that
I hear that it was you who died alone
And I offer no sympathy for that
Better off I sparkle on my own

And someday, Love will find me
In the rough
Someday, Love will finally
Be enough

I turn around three times and wound up at your door
Now you say you know all you did not know before
And I offer no sympathy for that
I hear that it was you who died alone
And I offer no sympathy for that
Better off I sparkle on my own

And someday, Love will find me
In the rough
Someday, Love will finally
Be enough

I got your love letters
I threw them all away
I hear you think that I'm crazy
I'm driving 95 and
I'm driving you away
I shine a little more lately

Someday, Love will find me
In the rough
Someday, Love will finally
Be enough

Someday, Love will find me
In the rough
Someday, Love will finally
Be enough

I shine a little more lately

Everyone's piecing it together slowly. To confirm something, it's about an abusive boyfriend. The best line is,

"I turn around three times and wound up at your door."

The average number of times for an abused girl to return to her abusive boyfriend is three times. Clever lyrics.

I think this song is about a girl who want's to be valued for her personality, not for what she looks like. hence "And someday, Love will find me In the rough". Meaning a man will find her and want her for who she is and not what she looked like.

I think the this song is about a girl who is finally getting out of a loveless relationship. "sparkle on my own". Maybe the man she was with was rich, and so he tried to keep her by offering wealth. "Diamonds". She's finally out on her own.

I think SHE may be the diamond. She was in a relationship, and he was not careful, and he hurt her. She realizes that if he doesn't appriciate her, he's not worth it.

Also, it could be somthing other than her. Maybe he had a good life, or job, or was in a good relationship, and he was careless and just wasted it away. He "fell" while "holding diamonds."

And someday love will find me too!

LOL, so corny, yet so true!

I think she was in a relationship and he hurt her. She's the diamonds he dropped. Consider the line "Someday love will find me in the rough" What do people generally say they are going to find in the rough? Diamonds, right? Right. So, love will find me/diamonds in the rough.

Anyway, great song, regardless of what it means.

She's definitely referring to herself when she talks about diamonds. This song is about her being in a relationship with this guy, but he treats her badly and thusly she dump him. The guy tries toconvince her that he's changed and know's better (Now you say you know all you did not know before), but she doesn't believe him. Better yet, she's finding out that she's better off without him. She lets him go and has hope that someday, she'll find real love.
