Love in a Void Lyrics
Clouding my eyes must be the potion
Spots on my eyes must be the lotion
Avoid in love it's so dumb
Love in a void
Too many critics too few writing
Rabid dogs that aren't biting
Avoid in love it's so dumb
Love in a void
Lots of money for the making
For all the stars they're just faking
Avoid in love it's so dumb
Love in a void

I think this is obviously an anti-love song. She has been turned off not only by the lack of response to her expressions of desire, but she is also disgusted by humanity's lack of verve in general. She is left feeling as though she exists in the midst of emotional apathy where true passionate intent doesn't ever really come into play.

I think it is about not just romantic love, but any kind of passion and the fact that it is all fake. Everyone is just going along with whatever is the popular opinion, or whatever makes them the most money and that they act falsely to get it.

"Too many Niggers for my Liking'" yeah ironic Soux and so was the nazi armband? scum lyrics
@life1179 Actually the original lyric was "too many Jews for my liking". She got a certain amount of stick for it at the time, particularly when combined with the black shirts and nazi armbands. Clearly a bit of rewriting of history going on here. Not that keeping the original lyric would have been acceptable.

I think this song is actually about the music industry and not romantic love as such. The word "bigots" was originally "jews" by which Siouxsie claimed she meant businessmen in general, but note also the lines about critics, stars and making money. I think "love in a void" refers to all the pop songs about romantic love, which the punks disdained and felt were fake (see also John Lydon's remarks about "two minutes of squelching", various Gang of Four songs etc).
