(Do Not Feed The) Oyster Lyrics

Cruising alligator
Blinded by the surf
Came here only yesterday
From the worst place on this earth

In this evil Everglades
You'll find no peace of mind
Watch out for the marsh hawk
He'll rip off your behind

Do not feed the Oyster
Under a cloud
He'll suck you like a seagull
Into the sou-ou-ou-ound

Under a cloud
Do not feed the oysters
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound

Underground

I hope you got there early
And I hope you brought your date
I hope she traveled to Chicago
Second class, not freight

Wedding bells and Christmas hells
And a life you did aspire
No more time to fight about
Attention in the choir

Do not feed the Oysters
Under the clouds
They'll suck you like a seagull
Into the sou-ou-ou-ound

Under a cloud
Do not feed the oysters
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound
Under the grou-ou-ou-ound

Under-ground

i think this song is probably malkmus' most pavement-sounding on the album (which is why i LOVE it)

That song makes no sense at all to me But it's one of his best! I just love it!

or is it "watch out for the mud shark"

seems more in keeping with malkmus' reference happy lyrics (mud shark being a zappa reference)

also, it's "no more time to fight about the tension in the choir", a line accentuated by the out of tune vocal harmony that follows

I think it's a warning about getting your girl pregnant
