    My InterpretationOn the night of my ninth birthday I was assaulted by my father. My younger sister has vague memories of it. It seems that was the turning point that made me fear the dark. I was petrified and would wake my sleeping sister so that she could hear the "noise" and validate my fear. When I knew she was awake, I felt safe and then would often finally drift off to sleep.

    When I reached my teens, I knew that I was gay & she was straight. We were different, yet so similar - and still are. She is my saving Grace, and I love her so.

    May all of her dreams come true......

    General CommentThis is really a heartbreaking song and tells exactly what I feel for my sister. I recently discovered their music and I´ve been just blown away by it. Music never had such an impact on me before.

    General Commentas i've said in other entries, this could also be applied to the closest kind of friendship. The kind where there's an unexplainable bond where they become more like family. Unbelievably gorgeous.

    Anyway, I interpret this as almost a lament to ayounger sister that may have died or gone away!
    its almost as if he envied her despite she being younger. He kinda describes a normal sibling relationship being containng some rivavly despite having admitting some dependancy on her. Those things he openly mocked her for he secretly admired in her! Its as though also that they have experianced a 'pain' that they only know! Its almost as though he is stood at a grave saying this to her! He appears to envy the innocence of their childhood, a sad song, very moving.

    General Commentantony has said numerous times that he felt completely lost until he saw the cover of a culture club album and saw boy george and finally felt like there was someone out there that understood them. i'm with pumkinhed, but it definitely applies to the relationship antony felt with boy george just from a simple album cover.

    General Commentwhen i first listened to this song i immediately thought of my best friend. we have a bond which is just as close if not closer than any sisters could ever be and i love her so much. she was going through a really rough patch a little while ago and i sent her this song. shes said since that it helped her get through by reminding her of our bond and how much i loved her- its the ultimate piece of music to show how much you love a sister or friend.

    General Commenti agree w/ all of you. a near perfect song to describe the love toward a friend or a sibling. but when i heard it i also interpreted that maybe the sister could be the feminine aspect of antony that he both loves and struggles with? i don't think it was written with this in mind, but the song, for me, works with this interpretation as well as the real sister/friend one.
