The lyrical content in this song cant be compared to anyything else. nothing even gets close to it. some of my favorite lines are: --I wear my scars like the rings on a pimp... he knows his past experiences and struggles have made him who he is today and is proud of this outcome and will always keep his history as a definitive part of himself. --I live life like the captain of a sinking ship... he has full awareness of his likely chance of failure and perhaps remorsefully makes many choices on this basis. --before that I was just another face on the bus tappin my foot, to the beat on the radio dreamin 'bout the mic and the money and the ladies... he used to be just another average guy making his way through and knows what it means to dream for so much more --discretion is the name of my cement-feathered bird... discretion means the freedom of choice or right to judge and this is the cement keeping the bird from flying. people judging him and his judgements toward others are preventing him from trully taking off. --I'm gonna creep through the night and put a plug in the spigot and when the water grows and the dam starts to overflow I'll float atop the flood, holding on to my ugly... when shit gets tough or things (whatever it may be)start to clutch and embrace him he knows the only thing that seperates him from the rest is his ugly and god gave it to him. life isnt always easy and glamorous and without the ugly there would be no distinction or learning. id like to talk more bout this but its late and i need some shut eye. get at me. one love
My favorite part is when he says,"Im pounding on the hammer to trigger the brain, embrace how i live it, god loves ugly." Its so genius because the hammer is a bone in the human ear. And when sound waves hit the it, the hammer sends a signal to the brain letting it know what it just heard. The hammer is also the part of a gun that hits the bullet that shoots it out. So what hes saying is that his music is his weapon against all the people that doubt him. The only thing anatomy class did good for me is understand that one line.
i love this lyrics of this song. "if it's all about gettin down with the get down how long I gotta wait for these fools to sit down" hehe its got great rhythm and beat... if you every can listen to it .. .please do. true words so he speaks. Its great the little part about the end ... dont leak there cd online... if you've heard it you will know what i am talking about.

I agree with what was said before, he pretty much sums a lot of meaning when he slug says "Embrace how i live, cause god loves ugly"
This may have a lot to do with his life and others judging him for it, or looking down upon him. He is straight up saying, everyone, everywhere was created for a reason... and you better start accepting all of life... not just what appeals to you; dont get excited when things dont work out for you.

I'm getting God Loves Ugly tattood on me soon. i cant wait. Atmosphere has seriously changed the way i see the world. Doing the 9-5 is a bit soul destroying but Atmosphere make my day. every day.

Here Slug is making a reference to a poem called "the poison tree" by william blake which is about a man who holds his anger inside of him, leading him to murder his foe. It's basically saying that bottling up all this anger inside of him can lead to destruction.
