Well now I find myself
Wish I was someone else
My hands are stained with love
Wish I could take it away

I hid behind the shell
In time the pain will melt
My heart is stained with love
Wish I could fake it

I gave my life away
There's nothing left to say
I gave my life away
You take it in your way

You take it in your way

My selfish enemy
Still has the best of me
Empty and feeling numb
Wish I could take it away

I can't control the need
Too weak to not concede
Wish I was deaf and dumb
Wish I could fake it

I gave my life away
There's nothing left to say
I gave my life away
You take it in your way

I gave my life away
There's nothing left to say
I gave my life away
You take it in your way

I can't pretend we're the same
I can't pretend we're the same
I can't pretend we're the same

Well now I find myself
Wish I was someone else
My hands are stained with love
Wish I could fake

I gave my life away
There's nothing left to say
I gave my life away
You take it in your way

I gave my life away
There's nothing left to say
I gave my life away
You take it in your way

You take it in your way
You take it in your way
You take it in your way
You take it in your way

He's fallen in love with his enemy, and in that he gave his life to her.

this song is so sad. it's about feeling useless and giving up on life. I guess he feels like his life is a waste.

Maybe he fell in love with some chick. He wasted his time with her because in the end they weren't the same and didn't get along.

it's a great song ... so sad though :( it's about someone who's deeply in luv with a person who doesn't love him back but this guy can't help falling for that person.. he is saying that she took all his life and he got nothing left. in the part where he said " will now i find myself.." doesn't mean he is over it n over this controlling feeling, it means he only realized it, realized the desperate situation he is in to the level that he wish he could fake what he is feeling:( ... so sad and deeply meaningful.

I agree with 2my completely. I think his love isn't being returned and in that, he wishes he was someone else, or wasn't feeling that way. It's so sad, dude.

I also related this to bullying. To me it sounds like he wants to be friends with the bullys but they won't let him and they're saying such horrible stuff that he wishes he can't hear them.

could it be about how the world/people just piss you off but at the same time you feel so hopeful because you've fallen in love with someone? I could relate if that's the meaning.

I think theres more to it then that. I think its about how you should not let people not run your life and it is definitely about relationships. I totally forgot that this song is off of daredevil. Like right after his childhood. Great movie by the way.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
