The lights go out and I can't be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh, I beg, I beg and plead
Singin' come out of things un said
Shoot an apple off my head
And a trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singin'
You are
You are
Confusion that never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know
Singin' come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease? Singin'
You are
You are
You are
You are
You are
You are
And nothing else compares
Oh, no, nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
You are
You are
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh, I beg, I beg and plead
Singin' come out of things un said
Shoot an apple off my head
And a trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singin'
You are
You are
Confusion that never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know
Singin' come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease? Singin'
You are
You are
You are
You are
You are
You are
And nothing else compares
Oh, no, nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
You are
You are
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go

I was listening to this song while driving in my car today and it just really helped me feel more alive for some reason. I had been in a pretty crappy mood until it came on for the second time and bang, something about it struck me.
I am not a fan of Coldplay, however that being said, I stumbled across this song when I was having relationship problems with my wife. Everything he said in the song just was exactly what I was feeling. He is singing about being in a conflicted, but very intense relationship and time is ticking away. When he is singing about "Tides that I have tried to swim against have brought me down upon my knees." That is about trying to do your own thing, your own way and in the end it is not what makes you happy. Going and doing things for himself crushed him in the end, or brought him to his knees. "Confusion never stops, closing walls and ticking clocks." He is saying how niether of them are sure and that time is running out for them and he feels the pressure. Later he is questioning if he is a healthy part of the relationship or is he the problem with it. "Am I part of the cure or am I part of the disease." I think that anyone who has been in love and had rough times and doubt can relate to this song. It is definatly one of my all time favorites!
I hadn't ever thought of it this way - but it does make sense. Definately one of my favorite songs.
