Did I tell you how much I miss
Your sweet kiss?
Did I tell you I didn't cry?
Well I lied
I lie lie lied
Over real over
When I nearly hit the face I loved
So tired of packaging the anger
Always pushing you away

Did I tell you you're wonderful?
I miss you yes I do
Did I tell you that I was wrong?
I was wrong
Cos you're wonderful yeah

Did I tell you how much I miss
Your smile?
Did I tell you I was okay?
Well no way
No way way way

You're wonderful yeah yeah

Now now now each and every day
I realize the price I have to pay
You you're wonderful
And now for your information
I'm walking around like an arm decoration

You you're wonderful
So high I can't get over it
So deep I can't get under it
You
You're wonderful yeah
You're wonderful yeah yeah
You're wonderful yeah yeah
You're wonderful yeah yeah
Wonderful

Did I tell you you're wonderful?
I miss you yes I do
Did I tell you that I was wrong?
I was wrong
For so long long long

    My Interpretation

I am a newbie guys, so LMK if I cross over. This song is so beautifully written...musically. The lyrics are like pins in my eyeballs. Why? I hate when people buy into the theory that points to the bipolar disorder or the depression. I was a Psychiatry major, was also a musician, pianist. My ex fixed that, brought music back into my life than under the influence, it took away by maiming my hands, pulling both thumbs out and down to my forearm. I will never play again. To me, this song is about domestic violence, and no, there is no apology here, there never is, there is a mantra that is meant to lure you back only to have the same happen. Take a look, never says sorry, or that he wont do it again. NEARLY hit the face I love...they don't remember or they try to make you forget...I LIED LIED LIED...'how could think I really mean it' WRONG WRONG WRONG ...my guy would choose words like this 'i never said i wouldn't do it again'...not hear he only told me i was beautiful when i left him

' DID I TELL YOU I WAS OK? No way, way, way' - Guilting her to come back, nedy, not his fault. .. 'DID I TELL YOU I DIDN'T CRY', they never do, there is no remorse. 'OVER, REAL OVER, when I nearly it the face I love' ...anyone?
he is blaming the drugs, he was wasted, he overdid it. Nearly hit? Unlikely, I'd bet she heard 'Its not that bad' or he does not remember what he did 'SO HIGH I CAN'T GET OVER IT, SO DEEP I CAN'T GET UNDER IT' not bipolar in my book...read again...i think he is only admitting that he can't control how he uses, does not say he will stop this, hitting, but did I tell you youre wonderful...mind-F'ing 'SO TIRED OF PACKAGING THE ANGER' - ' if true BPD, he wouldn't remember a manic rage in that way, and BPD doesn't present that way, but addiction does. OK now: so tired of packing his anger...I think he is victimizing/blaming...'I can't help it, you get me so mad when you...' ...that's what I heard...here and in my past LAST THING if you don't hate me yet: addicts struggle with taking blame for anything, they will say they are wrong, they may promise never to do it again, never to use, hit, whatever, and will show remorse, but sociopath won't. Carefully chosen words, zero remorse, intent to do it again. Wrong? So what? No concern for consequence, feels immune to it. I will give you this: many addicts are sociopaths self-medicating and they suffer from childhood trauma...get a therapist not a shrink, no meds help a sociopath...I'd love a response, even if it is STFU!! Sorry, this song 'hit' me tonight and hard..he's gone, but I feel pain everyday

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
