Blue Jean Lyrics
Blue Jean-I just met me a girl named Blue Jean
Blue Jean-she got a camouflaged face and no money
Remember they always let you down when you need 'em
Oh, Blue Jean-is heaven any sweeter than Blue Jean
She got a police bike
She got a turned up nose
Sometimes I feel like
(Oh, the whole human race)
Jazzin' for Blue Jean
(Oh, and when my Blue Jean's blue)
Blue Jean can send me
(Oh, somebody send me)
Somebody send me
(Oh, somebody send me)
One day I'm gonna write a poem in a letter
One day I'm gonna get that faculty together
Remember that everybody has to wait in line
Blue Jean-look out world you know I've got mine
She got Latin roots
She got everything
Blue Jean-she got a camouflaged face and no money
Remember they always let you down when you need 'em
Oh, Blue Jean-is heaven any sweeter than Blue Jean
She got a police bike
She got a turned up nose
(Oh, the whole human race)
Jazzin' for Blue Jean
(Oh, and when my Blue Jean's blue)
Blue Jean can send me
(Oh, somebody send me)
Somebody send me
(Oh, somebody send me)
One day I'm gonna get that faculty together
Remember that everybody has to wait in line
Blue Jean-look out world you know I've got mine
She got Latin roots
She got everything

When I first heard the song I thought the line was "The whole human race is wearing blue jeans" and the song was some statement about conformity. I eventually realized that wasn't it...
Hahahahaha!
Hahahahaha!
Whenever I heard this song on the radio the line that goes
"One day I'm gonna get that faculty together"
I always heard it say
"One day I'm gonna get the fuckin thing together"
@zaqwert777 Ha, ha, ha. I thought it was "I'm going to get my fucking act together"

I agree with an earlier comment which refers to the "Jazzin' for Blue Jean" video, or rather, short film. (Back in the heyday of music videos where they were actually interesting and actually added something to the song.) Bowie plays both neurotic rock star and awkward regular Joe in it. He's obsessed with an "It" girl and wants to impress her, so he takes her to the rock star's show, trying to imply that he's friends with the rock star. Turns out, the girl already knows the rock star and leaves with him, making the regular guy look like a bit of a chump. "Blue Jean" sounds like an ode to a woman who's got a whole list of would-be suitors that she can wrap around her finger.
This song's a great representation of Bowie's voice at that richer, deeper level. He practically purrs some of the lyrics.
You should have seen the 21 minute film called 'Jazzin for Blue Jean.' It explains it all.
hmm i have blue jeans.....now if i could only write songs like david bowie hmm
See Blue jean...high class with her turned up nose and all - hense (camouflaged face and no money)..with her J-lo ass in them skin tight Blue jeans she's a whore by night...the shmuck tries to get with her, takes her out to a Rock Show - turns out she's already got the Hots for the Rock Star..and the shmuck cant get over the way he feels about her..even tho she's is what she is and everybody gets to stand in line
Interviewed in 1987 and asked to compare a track like "Time Will Crawl" to "Blue Jean," Bowie said "'Blue Jean' is a piece of sexist rock 'n roll. [laughs] It's about picking up birds. It's not very cerebral, that piece."
