30 Seconds to Mars – Oblivion Lyrics
|
"divinity defines" - religion is usually the first thing that people define themselves by, and use to separate themselves into enemies and friends, on a worldwide-scale, at least, which fits into the "unity divides" and the whole war overtones of this song.
GODDAMN I love this band. |

Billy Talent – Beach Balls Lyrics

"get out of dodge" is a common phrase meaning get out of town. Not sure which one it is, but both make sense, probably more so with "get out of dodge" too.
I love this song. The first half is bitterness and anger at an ex, but then "my memory LANE is now paved" "there's nothing wrong" - he's gotten over it and moved on. |

Stroke 9 – Do It Again Lyrics

The meaning is obvious, it's not exactly subtle. It just lays it right out there.
I love Stroke 9. They write such awesome lyrics that are so unique. All the songs have a rhythm to them that makes them flow in such interesting ways. I love it. |

This version of the lyrics forgot the:
Thanks mom didn't have an abortion;
or my birthday wouldn't be today,
but I guess it's just my good fortune, my birthday's today ok. |

System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics

Renegrenade (cool name, btw): you're totally right about "just because they dont like the administration doesnt mean they dont like the founding principles". In fact, it's almost as if the administration doesn't agree with the founding principles. I mean, this country was supposed to be a place for people to flee FROM religious persecution. Now GWB is trying to insert his own religion wherever he pleases. Ugh. |

Yeah, it's definitely a great song about tripping on acid or shrooms... I used to think it was just a random cool song but after the first time I tripped, I totally understood this song so much more.... |

Jesse Lacey writes in a way that expresses EXACTLY what he's feeling. I've never seen anyone else who can. I can imagine being in that situation but not being able to put it into words. |

Goldfinger – Sam Simeon Lyrics

What the hell is it about? I mean, obviously, san simeon, but why did john (?) write this about it? did he grow up there? I went to ss recently and it has nothing but hotels and restaurants. Purely a tourist town. It boggles me why he'd write this about it. |

Marilyn Manson – Get Your Gunn Lyrics
|
I read manson saying this about this song:
"The title is spelled with two n's because the song was a reaction to the murder of Dr. David Gunn, who was killed in Florida by pro-life activists while I was living there. That was the ultimate hypocrisy I witnessed growing up: that these people killed someone in the name of being 'pro-life.'"
Awesome song, though. :-) |

Marilyn Manson – Lunchbox Lyrics
|
Here's what manson said about this song:
"The song is about being picked on and fighting back with my Kiss lunch box, which I used as a weapon on the playground. In 1979, metal lunch boxes were banned because they were considered dangerous weapons in the hands of delinquents."
About the nikki sixx thing, I guess lunchboxes were common weapons (understandably so) and it's just a coincidence. |

I agree with punkrawkdork...dookie kicks ass. I heard that the new cd is going to be composed of songs that were written dookie-era but never got released, or even b-sided, so I'm really excited about that. :-D |

Rammstein – Du Hast (English) Lyrics
|
Yes, their English version and lyrics may say "you hate" but if you're wanting the direct translation, it's "you have". I have a friend who grew up in Germany and is fluent in German who agrees with me. I also have another friend who is an exchange student from Germany who says the same thing. So, in a way, they're both right. Rammstein changed it from "you have" to "you hate" when they recorded the english version "to appeal to the american public" (like someone already said) or some crap like that which is why everyone's confused. |

lol...I was thinking that he was trying to wake up his parents...it fits with the next two lines, anyway. "dont wanna wait, gettin late" a lot of parents make their kids wait until they wake up before they open their presents. i dont know, though, you could be right |

I typed this from listening to it, and I didnt even want to attempt to try Sum 41's part (which ruins the whole song, if you ask me...) so there might be some errors. Like, I'm not sure about the "march upstairs to give my parents a shake" and "I'd grab down the steps" doesnt make any sense, but I couldnt figure it out. |

Blink-182 – Time Lyrics
|
um...."before they wrote nonsense"?? They've always done a combination. Have you heard of the song "Depends"? Or "Just About Done" or "TV"....and they occasionally still write serious lyrics. Heard of STFTK? anthem part 2? Dont go shooting your mouth off without thinking. I agree they've gotten "poppier" but I HATE to categorize. They're still good, and I like them. Yes, I liked them before enema, but the guys have grown and it's ridiculous to expect the music to stay the same. |

Eminem – The Way I Am Lyrics
|
I will admit his lyrics aren't deep. But that's not a bad thing. He says what he feels and doesnt try to cover it up with fancy shmancy philosophical crap. No one ever said they were rebellious by buying his cd...I dont know where you got that from. If other bands dont get the recognition they deserve, I dont see how that's linked to Eminem. Don't use him as a scapegoat like the rest of the closedminded public. |
