This is a fantastically made song. Did deserve at least the Record of the Year and maybe the Song of the Year. We've all had this kind of relationship before. You like somebody, you realize they feel the same, nothing happens and now she's just lamenting on the loss of a possible relationship. This song is the story of my life! And I think it's "feel as empty as a drone" but that's just me. She's just watching him pass by, not taking a chance. It's so sad. |

I'm sorry but there's so much artistic manipulation within this song, that's it's become the catchiest thing I've ever heard! Even just listening to it once I get it stuck in my head. Sure she's not a good singer, sure the lyrically challenged with a deep meaning, but hey it sure beats the junk dished out by most rap artists. I said MOST so all rap fans, don't beat me up yet....it's just about waiting for their time in the sun to come, but it's so damn catchy that whenever I hear it I can't help but sing along. It's also really easy to sing. The show, however, is actually pretty good. :) Call me one of those teenaged "closet fans". It's good stuff, hard to believe I'm actually saying this about this song....oh well. |

Tough song to put together. I think it's about somebody who is having a sort of crisis. Not sure exactly what type. They're up at the hill or what not, thinking things over. It coudl be the possibility that the person got their heart broken and is contemplating everything, and their father and friend are trying to bring the guy back to their place, to realize that everything is okay, but they're too destroyed by the ex-love. Then they realize, that they do have to leave it all behind, thus the last line. Of course don't take my word for it. |

This song is wicked beautiful. What I get out of the song is that there's someone who is driving around and is reflecting upon his growing up, and the nightswimming, which represents that innocence. The photograph is a reminder of that innocence in that sense. And the streetlights keep flashing, showing the picture. Kind of like how the mind works. I think the person is also reflecting upon a friend or so, whom might be in the picture with him and the person thinks that maybe they really didn't know each other. But what do I know? |

I love this song...I really do. What it's about? Well, I'm thinking it's about this person who is thinking about situations that they're stuck in. This thing is driving him nuts, and he can't do much. The line "Ghosts appear and fade away..." is like the flashbacks of the situations. He knows they'll be alright but still, he worries about them. Everyday, the situations reappear, and there's no way for him to make them go away.
Kind of reminds me of my own situations....right now, a whole bunch of my friends are pretty much estranged from each other. We still barely talk, and it is sure as hell not the same. I think about these things all time. My friends are now those ghosts that appear and fade away. I guess that's why the show Scrubs used this song. It's just overkill....that's all... |

This song makes me cry at times too. The music video goes so well with the song. It's just a reassurance kind of song saying "Everybody does hurt, so don't think it's just you.". I have a very very strange interpretation, but please hear me out. This song is about someone coming to terms with thier homosexuality. Losing my religion, is in a way to describe them admitting thier homosexuality. Now, saying that they said to much is telling themself that no, they're not gay!! they're straight!! And the person is in love with someone from the same sex, and thier mind and heart are dueling which ultimately ends with the admittance.
