Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics 21 years ago
I see this song as a song of losing everything except for your broken painful self. All your dearest friends who you once trusted move on and change, while you are still caught in youself. Whatever broke you is deceiving and you can't tell whether what you think is true or false. The only thing you know for sure is what you've known since you were born: PAIN. That's all there is by the time it all boils down to something.

Nine Inch Nails – Closer Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it may even be said that this song isn't nessecarily about sex. Think deeper than that. It's not a simple one-line definition like most people think it is. There is more to it.

It is about how he feels that he is raping someone, someone he puts all his problems onto, his isolation, the hate that it brings, his everything. If it wasn't for this dependance, he would die. He would not be able to live without the support and feel of pleasure and power from this person. He dissected himself and sees all of his problems but cannot handle the pressure by himself. Instead he wants to fuck it all away onto this person. Give and not receive, yet a present that no one will want. This person doesn't even consciously know what is happening to them. They just take it even though it might hurt them more than anything else. Or at least Trent sees it that way. Perhaps he just has no remorse for what he's done, and he can have his "bitch" forever and ever and she'll keep taking it. You don't see it from her side, only from the things he knows he is doing. In fact, he seems proud to keep on fucking and raping and taking and leeching, just because of the bad things he loses and she gains.

How do I know? Let's just say I can relate. I've had it done to me, but mainly because I've done it to one person and I regret it with all my life.

Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics 21 years ago
I am a new NIN fan. I first saw Trent did the SFX for the original Quake game. And I have heard a lot of people giving them good reviews, so I thought maybe I should listen. And I have.

And what I say, yes, Trent Reznor is a vocal and lyrical god. All the songs are so meaningful and deep. They are all very disturbing though. But that is the way Trent feels. I can relate unfortunately. In a few years I bet I could write like that.

Guns N' Roses – Estranged Lyrics 21 years ago
You call 9 minutes long? Heh. How about 23? Echoes.

I think UseYourIllusion has it pretty much. Axl (or the person in the song) feels isolated and alone after losing his one and only love, and he can't find a way to get back on to the land. What a great song. It's not one of my favorite GNR songs, but the lyrics are VERY good, I can sort of relate.

Led Zeppelin – How Many More Times Lyrics 21 years ago
This song feels like a journey to me. Like a neverending jam. It is so good. I love the middle section, that sounds sorta Spanish, and then when it all stops and then the drums come back in right after that. Woo! Crazy good blues.

Led Zeppelin – Fool in the Rain Lyrics 21 years ago
the guitar solo is a flaw because it drags a lot from the beat. in the new DVD you can see that the Knebworth performance guitarwise wasn't that great. page had trouble keeping up.

but otherwise, a groovy song, i like the jam session sorta thing going on in the middle.

i was just thinking about the title to this song, not knowing like the words except for the main line, and then i was like "shit! if these lyrics are what i think they could be about, i'ts like my life story" i say songs are like my life a lot, but yeah, this one definitely is.

it's a comfort

The Doors – The End Lyrics 21 years ago
In the movie Apocalypse Now what is that Doors song where he sounds like he's saying "fuck fuck" over and over? Or maybe just grunting. It really sounds like The End but there is no part of the song like that.

Cream – Crossroads Lyrics 21 years ago
first time I heard this was when Eddie Van Halen did an instrumental cover of it, I found it from Kazaa. quality guitarwork.

there was a movie called Crossroads, it is about "guitar dueling" or something like that. i haven't seen it but that's what i recall from the plot outline.

The Beatles – Magical Mystery Tour Lyrics 21 years ago
try kazaa, it might be available there. at this very moment i am encoding the LP album to MP3.

this song doesn't really mean much of anything. it's just about a magical mystery tour, no symbolism that any ordinary fan can know.

The Beatles – The Fool on the Hill Lyrics 21 years ago
My mom told me it was about the death of Jesus how he was just there on the hill and no one would listen, people thought he was just a fool. But he could still see everything and know everything. I like that interpretation. It's kindof cool. But just to let you know, my mom is wrong about just about everything. ;)

The Beatles – A Hard Day's Night Lyrics 21 years ago
I have the 1967-1970 collection. I don't care about the earlier years. They stink. It's just dippy late 50s/early 60s pop. Sorry, but yeah. That's the way it is.

I like songs a lot when they have people arguing here over the meaning. The more poppy music gets, the thinner the lyrics and you can just tell exactly what they mean by reading them. Songs like I am The Walrus, while that is just some trippy ramblings, who knows, it might mean a lot. I write very deep when I've just been baking. So how many pop stars have you heard of doing any sort of drugs, even alcohol?

submissions
The Beatles – A Day in the Life Lyrics 21 years ago
wow. this song is so trippy. i love it. that's what great about so many beatles songs, the slurred sounding vocal notes, it makes it so awesome.

this song is just great. if i was to make a CD of my favorite beatles songs, this would definitely be on there. the whoel thing is so crazy, it's just great. i wished the end went on forever.

don't forget that steve tyler, joe perry, brad whitford, tom hamilton, and joey kramer are in sgt. peppers too :) that's why their band did the Come Together cover.

i really like this. it really does sound like an obsession, just thinking of the same beautiful great things over and over. that's with the different themes going around and around in the song, and then for like 2 minutes till the end, it just gets all heavy and.....heavy i guess is the word.

Supertramp – The Logical Song Lyrics 21 years ago
Because the thing is, if they mold you into a machine, then you wouldn't be a radical, you wouldn't be the outsider who rebels against society. Once you are sucked into the machine and taught to be a drone, you are acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegatable.

submissions
Supertramp – The Logical Song Lyrics 21 years ago
shaun, i don't agree. i think him saying "radical,
liberal, fanatical, criminal" is about before the institution. that is how society treated him but then... "Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable, respecable, presentable, a vegtable!" That's my life story right there in that stanza. :/

The Beatles – Something Lyrics 21 years ago
I can relate. That's one reason I really love this.

Has anyone heard the new relased version of this in 5.1 surround and without the strings and stuff? It's pretty neat, it's really just George on vocals and guitar, and Ringo on drums. I don't think anyone else is audible in that mix.

The Beatles – Helter Skelter Lyrics 21 years ago
They probably got rid of the slide because of the bad associations with the Manson things. Or maybe they just renamed them. Who knows? I don't. I don't even know what I'm saying.

It's about a slide, for real. But Manson's insanity changed the meaning. And I can see why, the song really sounds like it could be the end of the world and stuff, it's just so disturbing and once you hear his meaning, you don't foget.

Metallica – Astronomy (Blue Öyster Cult cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
Actually, the Queen song "Stone Cold Crazy" was pretty close to the Tallica version, in style and loudness and thrashyness. Except Freddie Mercury's voice is not as strong as Jaymz's so natuarally the Tallica version sounds better. And maybe I should be posting this in that song...

Metallica – We Did It Again (feat. Ja Rule and Swizz Beatz) Lyrics 21 years ago
Believe it or not, Lars claims that the album will not be copy-protected despite all the Napster stuff. They NEVER talk about Napster anymore. I think they regret scaring people away, and they are delibrately trying to rock our fucking heads off with this new album. Critics were blown away. The band keeps re-emphasizing that this is not Load or Reload. This is good music. I pre-ordered it, so when it gets here on June 10, i'm off to the store....

dreamer, do you know that from a first-hand experience or what? is that a fact? i don't think so. yeah, it is mostly smoking, but many people eat cannibis sativa.

i agree with tosh's message, but some of the lyrics are exaggerated, like the doctors and lawyers smoking it. some might, but most of them are braindead drones just following the laws.

And that Wizard of Oz whole dealy, I think they denied that they did that, but there sooooooooooooooooooooo many coincidences, it's just scary if they haven't done it on purpose. That was before The Wall movie in 1982, when Roger got his wish to do a soundtrack, so they were probably waiting anxiously to do it.

Queen – Stone Cold Crazy Lyrics 21 years ago
this song is crazy. no shit it's not like any other queen song! it's not like any other classic rock song! it's like thrash metal, yet not quite as loud. when i heard the metallica cover (i heard that first), i thought they must have metal'd the song up a whole lot.... but no, there is little difference in the heavyness, except for freddie's and jaymz's vocals.

Sublime – Get Ready Lyrics 21 years ago
Why do these crazy "vigilantes" do that? If toking wasn't a CRIME, then I'm sure they wouldn't complain to anyone. Just because it is illegal because it is, the everday ignoramus will do everything he/she can to be a fascist follower.

The song is really straightforward, like most of Sublime's lyrics. And that's a good thing for once.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – I Shot The Sheriff Lyrics 21 years ago
well, this could be about pot or maybe not. theres only one way to know, raise the man and ask him.

i think chances are it is protesting prohibition. he is not a criminal at all. if the laws were not there, he would not be hurting anyone or killing anything or doing anything upsetting. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? he did shoot the sheriff but that was because the sheriff was coming after bob for ingesting a natural plant for good reason. peace. bob was saying he wasn't a criminal, he doesn't want to kill police, that is why he didn't shoot the deputy. he is not after the police, he is trying to save the people and help the world with this miracle plant. he was defending himself for being innocent. what did he do? grow a plant which has been DECLARED illegal. why? because of a racist and economic law back in the early 1900's which has stayed in the place for some strange and unkown reason taht the gov hasn't really told us yet.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – Get Up, Stand Up Lyrics 21 years ago
Marijuana is a beautiful natural tool which does nothing but enhance the mind. No complications, don't listen to those DARE drones who just tell you what they are told to tell by those who are told to tell it to them too. Read that over again if you need some more figuring out. I know what I am talking about, don't you anti-pot people be bitching to me "wake up and look at the facts." I have. Now why don't you guys do some research and find out things without them being told to you. soooo...

I partly agree with this song. I believe in the afterlife and stuff, but I DO NOT think we should all make ourselves go through hell to get to heaven. Yeah, there's tough times, but don't force more on yourself. Is he saying that he doesn't believe the stuff about jesus coming as a real person? or what?

I think watermelonofjoy is stoned.

Where does it even suggest this song is about toking? Yeah, it's real mellow and beautiful and soothing and all that great Bob Marley stuff. MJ can enhance that feeling, but that's the only way you can call this a song about drugs.

i agree with nattydread and shiznaz

Just because Kazaa says something, definitely means it's not true. Examples: Cocaine by Eric Clapton was listed as ZZ Top, same exact recording; Baba O'Riley by The Who is USUALLY called Teenage Wasteland; Love Bites by Judas Priest is said to be Love Bites by Def Leppard. I even burned a CD till I realized what I had done...

Supertramp – Take The Long Way Home Lyrics 21 years ago
How can no one have commented here? I just got into liking Supertramp after I placed the voice on the name. The singer is funny sounding and great. Another great ProgRock voice.

My interpretation: this is from the POV of someone feeling alone and sad, and misunderstood. He thought he had friends, but they were only trying to get something out of him, like entertainment. Life really just becomes a drag, and you "take the long way home" to just get away, because you don't care. It's just about how life can suck sometimes. But let it get ya down, and then one day you're going to be trying to escaping all of your problems.

Problems are a part of life. Don't always resort to drugs or isolation or anything that could be an escape. Because once you get into that too much, you're going to need to escape from the escape. Yeah, escape is great, it releases stress, but don't fall back on it. You gotta put up a fight sometimes.
