Blind Melon – Soup Lyrics

a lot if the songs blind melon recorded were along the lines of this kind of childhood selfishness. they either have a repentant tone, or they are celebrating the joy of that simplicity. |

I love this song, my dad used to do a cover of it with his band. He went thru and explianed all the drug references to me once, but I think I was high at the time...... |

Neil Young – Old Man Lyrics

It's a young man talking to his father. He feels like his old man has set his expectations too high for him. This is one of my favorite songs. |

Neil Young – Helpless Lyrics

As far as I'm concerned, that's exactly what this song is about. It's a hard thing to come from a place you hate all your life and then get out into the world and discover that that place was your home all along. |

Neil Young – Cowgirl In The Sand Lyrics

I think he's talking about a girl who plays with men but won't settle down. I think "old enough to change your name" means she's old enough to settle down & get married. I've always felt that the woman in this song was just strong willed and wanted to be free, not that she meant to be a tramp, the feeling of the song is too gentle for the speaker to be angry at her. |

Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics

To anyone who has read the book "Illusions" by Richard Bach this sounds very familliar. An enlightened individual who first rejects his knowledge, then trys to share it only to be shunned for it, but still teaches one person and so he has acomplished his goal in life. I have always loved this song. |

Bob Dylan – Maggie's Farm Lyrics

I've heard 2 possible meanings for this song, I'm not too sure which one I prefer. I've been told that this song is about the branches of gov't and how the whole thing is just corrupt as all hell, and I've also heard that it's about herion addiction. I'm not positive just at what point in Dylans life this song was written, so I really can't say for sure which I think it is. Any clues? |

Frank Zappa – Big Leg Emma Lyrics

This is just another kick ass song that can only be attributed to Mr. Zappa. Anyone in the Jamestown/Buffalo NY area should check out a band by the name of Big Leg Emma. You won't be sorry |

Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London Lyrics

do you think it's possible that there is absolutely NO meaning behind this song at all? that he just got a goofy idea stuck in his head and that this is what came of it. he used his friends in it, that's cool, but i really think that there is nothing to analyze here at all. (that sounded way bitchier than i meant it to.) |

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics

i really think that the line about the troubadours is a metephore - the lost of young musicians to drugs, alcohol, ect. before they really meet their potential.
and it is possible that everyone is just reading too much into it. |

this song has held a lot more meaning for me in the past few months. i think that it just hurts him too much to try to love her. i know what that's like. i don't think that this song could have ever been bowies, listen to mick jaggers voice and tell me that he hasn't lived every word of that song. |

ok, here's what i think, i think this is about a a young kid, during the civil war. in the lines "And I just turned twenty-two I was wonderin' what to do And the closer they got, The more those feelings grew"
i think this kid had a lot of things on his mind, but he didn't know what side he was on or really had no opinion on the whole affair because he had so much to deal with in his own life. i think this song is about this kid getting gunned down while he was trying to make up his mind. |

Bob Dylan – Desolation Row Lyrics

i think the song is about depression. it's on highway 61 revisited, the first album dylan put out after a near fatal motor cycle accident. to me the song is basicly about the fact that we are all human, that we are all basicly corrupt, and that no matter who you are or who you've been, you've been to desolation row. |
