That bonehead that said creed is a christian band is obviously wrong, creed sucks, and no way in the world are they christian. this songs a christian song cause its sung by a christian band. anybody with any sort of sense can recognize this. the only reason the video is the way it is, cause directors often put their own vision to the song and represent that in the video, sometimes its in line with the lyrics, sometimes its not. Why's "You" capitolized? It's obviously a reference to God, a common way to refer to "God" the proper noun as a pronoun. Simply put, this songs about feeling alone without God, how every person searches for security. He repeats its a shame how he crawls up in the dark, or how he pulls himself apart, when he realizes that his answer is always faithfully there to catch him falling. That's what sucks about art, song, creative forms of expression, only the writer knows his/her meanings, and not everyone will see the artists intention, and his/her work will always be misinterpretted, due to people's egos, trying to make their own lives or insight fit into the artists box, when in reality its just a song or another work of art to be appreciated or not. nailed down is a reference to nails going into a coffin. this song is about losing touch with reality or life. seems like its describing a journey into someone buried alive that dies. "brain needs oxygen" "this body left the soul." The part where it says "could we have known" is if someone realized if they did the unthinkable, burying someone alive. "now saturate, the earth" Chevelle obviously uses the fear of being buried alive as a metaphor for how unfair a relationship between two people can be. Usually one has to suffocate while the other nails down, making the other more cold and crippled. at least that's my take on it. |

i always interepted this song to be about a schizophrenic. the soft white glow in the cranium and the bullseye made sedated as a reference to drug treatment. cedric screaming beware as a way to show a schizophrenic's paranoia. Greatest band ever. Song meaning: It's about old people waiting to die. "the opposition cant feel the tentacle reach suction cup the numb arms of the elderly" young people can get high and feel alive, but old people are numb to it, like an empty shell. in this case the opposition is the elderly.
