Led Zeppelin – Carouselambra Lyrics 1 year ago
There's a clue to the meaning of this song in it's title: Carousel-Ambra. A carousel (like many amusement park rides) gives you a thrill with the speed it goes round. It's up one minute and down the next and is an absolute buzz. It does go round and round, Makes you dizzy (and for the very weak hearted; Disorientated) but can also be awfully tedious and predictable when the novelty wears off. Robert Plant (I believe) wanted to get off the Carousel that Led Zeppelin became. I love the many references in Led Zeppelin songs to amusement park rides (both in their sound and lyrics; for example: The middle bit on Whole Lotta Love vividly illustrates a person's experience on a Roller Coaster and the lyric on Livin, lovin Woman...Come on baby on the roundabouts...etc) Led Zeppelin should have made their home in either Margate or blackpool!!!!!!!

Brilliant, Ray's a genius. This song reminds me of the difficulties of my first term at university back in 89 and the difficulties I faced after leaving home. Ray's music really got me through that difficult time.

The Beatles – Glass Onion Lyrics 3 years ago
I love the line in this song: 'Looking through the bent backed tulips, seeing how the other half live'. To me, this conjures up images of the be-suited harum scarum mop tops crouching down in the flowerbeds observing the Lord and Lady of the manner climbing into their Rolls Royce after breaking into the grounds of the house in a Hard Days night type of film, circa 1964. Other than that, the rest of the song lyrics are utter gibberish..Obviously written under the influence of some mind bending drug.

Genesis – Heathaze Lyrics 5 years ago
I love this song but reckon it would have sounded much better if Peter Gabriel had sung it. I guess Tony Banks was inspired to write this as a result of his experiences during the long hot UK summer drought of 1976. The song expertly sums up the tremendous lethargy one feels in a heatwave; 'Nothing must be done' as well as illustrating the distressed state of the trees and how they will loose their leaves early that year, The smokey, tarry roads with their orange sodium lamps, the getting to the end of the day without having done anything (wasting another day), taking a sleeping pill (perfumed Poison) betrayed by it's aftertaste in order to be able to sleep through the heat. Of course, in the last line the futility of the obstinate fisherman who's gone mad beside the dried up river..............Feed the ducks instead, easier that way, but he won't listen....................Brilliant bit of vivid writing from Mr Banks.

Gary Glitter – Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah!) Lyrics 5 years ago
The lyrics are so sixth form in their simplicity and for me they conjure up the image of a sleazy old man trying to get an underage girl drunk on Whisky (which is an old man's drink...I should know) just so that he can get into her knickers. I've not heard the song (only read the lyrics) and not sure that I should in fear of the police picking me up on suspicion of listening to illegal obscene material)

The Kinks – Motorway Lyrics 6 years ago
I'm glad that Ray never pandered to the American way and call this song: 'Freeway' as the true meaning of the song would be completely lost.

In my opinion, this is another little known gem of a song from the genius of Ray's songwriting. Everybody who has a pulse will know what it's like to fetch up at a motorway service station only to find that the toilets are flooded, The WH Smith's concession doesn't stock the paper you want and the food in the restaurant is of very poor quality and far too overpriced.

I remember spending 15 quid on a very dodgy full English breakfast at a service station on the M3. The bacon was greasy, the sausage was the cheapest you could get and the eggs had a curiously rubbery quality having sat out under hot lamps since 4.00 in the morning.

They get away with it because they are the only place you can stop at for miles around.

Tom Waits – Ruby's Arms Lyrics 6 years ago
What a beautiful song, from the Salvation Army style brass band at the intro to the lush strings off the main song, it has a sense of sadness and finality to it. The perfect song to illustrate a relationship break up that I have ever heard.

Joe Jackson – Sentimental Thing Lyrics 6 years ago
This heart breaking song is one of Joe Jackson's saddest songs. For me, the lyrics sum up the confusion of emotions one feels at the break up of a long term relationship and the fear of being suddenly alone, the weekends on your own, those long nights.......The music is also so breathtakingly beautiful and so solitary, like standing alone on Southsea beach, looking across to the Isle of wight in the middle of the night, seeing the twinkling lights........

Tom Waits – Come on Up to the House Lyrics 6 years ago
For me this song illustrates what happens after you die. As a Christian, going up to the House is a way of describing being promoted to glory, going to heaven, finally going home to be with Jesus. Many of us devout Christians believe that this is not our would, we are just passing through. It's one of Tom Waits more spiritual songs like; 'Jesus going to be here' and 'Take care of all of my children'

@[BarnabyHughes:24423] This song isn't about Stockholm Syndrome, Stockholm syndrome is defined in the dictionary as: 'the situation when a person who has been taken prisoner starts to like or trust the person or people who have taken them'. Genesis – Happy The Man Lyrics 6 years ago
I love this song and suprised no body has commented on it. It was a crime that it was not included on Nursery Crime or Foxtrot as it would have added some humourous lightness (especially the former). It's so wonderfully uplifting, sounding like a cross between Follow you, Follow me and Solisbury Hill.

Happy the man who's faith is secure in God, Happy the man who is a follower of Jesus. I'm not joking, life will never necessarily be better as a Christian but a faith in Christ does help you cope with the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Genesis – Afterglow Lyrics 6 years ago
This could be a love song to God, Jesus, Mohammed or someone you want to devote your life or have lost your heart to. Genesis – Down And Out Lyrics 6 years ago
I know what this is about, the penny's dropped.

Back in 1969, Genesis were signed to Decca records and released their Ill advised Jonathan King influenced debut album: 'From Genesis to Revelation', It sold only 600 copies so the record company had no choice but to drop them. The shock was great, Tony Philips nearly threw in the towel, Tony Banks decided to go to the university of Sussex to do a degree, Peter and the others were devastated as well and questioned whether it was worth continuing.

I can imagine that these lyrics are the dialogue of the Decca record company executive at the meeting when they were given the boot.

Fortunately, Tony Stratton Smith and Charisma records picked them up and saved the day..........So a happy ending for all.

Genesis – Mama Lyrics 6 years ago
I always thought this song was about somebody who was rejected by their real mother as a baby, was adopted and years later when they are Eighteen, wants to know their real mother and search for her through social services (like the film: Secrets and lies) but unlike the film, finds that their real mother wants nothing to do with them and they freak out and have ab emotional meltdown as a result of the rejection.

Not sure about the prostitute metaphor as it's unlikely a teenager would need to (or have the guts) to go with a prostitute and tend to be in a better position to meet a girl in the normal way. And if a teenager did go with a pro, wouldn't get so upset over her rejection and could find another quite easily.

Genesis – Get 'em Out By Friday Lyrics 6 years ago
Peter Gabriel was incredibly ahead of his time.

In 1972 it may well have illustrated the vast amounts of working class people from their close nit communities and stuffed into tower blocks or new towns like: Harlow, Crawley, Stevenage or Basildon by ruthless 'Rachman' type property developers, so that they can demolish, gentrify or rent for higher prices to incoming imigrants.

In 2012 (and there-after) a similar thing is happening, inner city communities are being dissipated through spiraling rental costs, no available social housing left (thanks to the Thatcherite right to buy scheme) and the boom in developers having a monopoly on building investment properties and nothing else. The poor and those on moderate incomes being stuffed into tiny rabbit hutch houses and part/rent apartments in the sticks and the provinces where they need to be shorter in height just to spread out in their new home.

Nothing changes....I'm sure if Rachman were alive today; The Queen would have had him knighted for his contributions to the Tory Party.

A little bit dated lyrically,,,Has that 1970's clever word pun (Two Ronnies) with a lot of Python (Monty) thrown in.

The 'I don't belong here' here line I like the most................Very much felt like that when I had to work at Sainsburys in the 80's to earn some extra cash and continue to feel that way every time I set foot in Tescos, Waitrose and Sainsburys these days although I like Lidl because it's a little bit smaller and more manageable.

Genesis – The Musical Box Lyrics 6 years ago
I love this song, I remember when I first heard it; I was 16 and suffering from severe appendicitis and always felt the song illustrated the pain I was going through and the fear I might die, fortunately, I was rushed to hospital in time for them to operate.

Like a lot of early Genesis, there's a darkness to the music and lyrically, it is incredibly clever. I like the way Peter Gabriel expresses the frustration of the life being stolen from Henry that he was prevented from living, not realizing those hopes and dreams and aspirations he had as a child. I can imagine this must be how someone in prison, with Learning disabilities or Aspergers syndrome might feel, all that pent up frustration.

Pretty insightful stuff from a guy of only 21.

Pink Floyd – Jugband Blues Lyrics 6 years ago
I find Jugband Blues to be one of the most revealing songs about Syd's inner thoughts and feelings and a very sad song that I can relate to.

Being on the Autistic Spectrum myself, It is my understanding that Syd sufferd from Aspergers Syndrome, hence what set him apart from many of his peers. People who are thrust in to the limelight who have aspergers often have a difficult time dealing with the pressures of a rock n roll lifestyle, just read Gary Numan's musings on the subject.

Jugband song is more a song of frustration, sadness and loss in regards to Syd's circumstances in the Floyd at the time and that he new he was on the way out.

Only Peter Jenner and Andrew King could see this at the time and truly supported Syd, the other members of the Floyd had too many stars in their eyes and ambition to fully understand.

Roger Waters supported Syd in a visit to a leading psychiatrist in the fall of 67 who was unable to diagnose schizophrenia and Syd has never been treated or medicated for schizophrenia since.

Often depression and acute anxiety is often a symptom of Aspergers in regards to how people sadly alienates those on the autistic spectrum.

I don't like the lyrics in this song, it's important to get a good education so it can equip you to get a decent job and even be as intelligent as FZ! His mocking tone on this song annoys me.

The real truth nowadays is that it seems every young person is going to college to get that degree in one thing or another and sadly there is not enough opportunity in the workplace to utilize their knowledge and to give them that start and they are often likely or not, end up having to work in a role that is below their skill set, I know I've been there.

I have met so many people over the years who have a degree/Masters degree but are working in hotels, cleaners, supermarkets and as receptionists because there's no proper opportunities out there for them and they have to make ends meet.

Frank Zappa – Jewish Princess Lyrics 8 years ago
It sounds like the dialogue of what a man would be saying to the receptionist at an escort agency:

American Middle Class Middle Aged Male:

I want a nasty little Jewish Princess
With long phony nails and a hairdo that rinses
A horny little Jewish Princess
With a garlic aroma that could level Tacoma
Lonely inside...
Well, she can swallow my pride

I want a hairy little Jewish Princess
With a brand new nose, who knows where it goes
I want a steamy little Jewish Princess
With over-worked gums, who squeaks when she cums
I don't want no troll...
I just want a Yemenite hole

I want a darling little Jewish Princess
Who don't know shit about cooking and is arrogant looking
A vicious little Jewish Princess
To specifically happen with a pee-pee that's snappin'
All up inside...
I just want a Princess to ride

"Awright, back to the top... everybody twist"

I want a funky little Jewish Princess
A grinder; a bumper, with a pre-moistened dumper
A brazen little Jewish Princess
With titanic tits, and sand-blasted zits
She can even be poor...
So long as she does it with four on the floor

"Vapor-lock"

I want a dainty little Jewish Princess
With a couple of sisters who can raise a few blisters
A fragile little Jewish Princess
With Romanian thighs, who weasels 'n' lies
For two or three nights...

Won't someone send me a Princess who bites
Won't someone send me a Princess who bites
Won't someone send me a Princess who bites
Won't someone send me a Princess who bites

Receptionist of 24/7 Escorts:
