lyrics written here are incorrect.
"Well I got a tip from China that they stole OLD BUDDA'S GONG"
NOT "Kubla Khan". that makes no sense, and it doesn't even rhyme. |

Ren – Hi Ren Lyrics

Brilliant song, well executed and wonderfully shot and edited video also. This guy has talent oozing out of his pores and flowing all over the place. I haven't been this impressed for a long time. I'm not going to bother dissecting the lyrics as they are quite self evident on their own. Again this is about as close to perfection as I've heard, and I've been in the business for almost 50 years. If you're out there Ren, keep up the great work. |

The Cowsills – Hair Lyrics
|
This was a cover of the title song from the musical "Hair" originally written by James Rado and Gerome Ragne. The musical was a smash due to its controversial content and anti-Vietnam war message. The song however, was not a hit until the Cowsills covered it and got mid west radio to play it. The only thing that kept the Cowsill's version of "Hair" from becoming number one on Billboard was the 5th Dimension's song "Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" from the same musical, "Hair".
Brilliantly covered and executed by the Cowsills, their effort became the definitive version. |

The Cowsills – We Can Fly Lyrics

OMG no comments?!? Look at how happy the protagonist is with his love. Nothing can stop them when they are together they can fly. This song is actually all about the harmonies, though. Close your eyes and listen to harmonies in this, they were flying. Much love to the Cowsills. |

NO ONE has commented on this song yet ?!?
OMG It sounds like summer on the beach, but its about a guy who falls in love the NBC news caster Tricia Toyota. What on earth rhymes with: "pagoda"?
Abe Vigoda of course. Our protagonist promptly meets her, dates her and then everything is fine, Oh my, my, my. |

The Dickies – Where Did His Eye Go? Lyrics
| 2 years ago
|
Great yet comical send off to Sammy Davis Jr. who lost an eye in an automobile accident. The protagonist ponders whether Mr. Davis can "..see in 3D..", or if "...he's looking at me.." A cyclops has only one eye, and lacks depth perception because of it. |

This is a beautiful, gorgeous song about someone in a potentially unrequited relationship, so in love that they're "..willing to wait.." even though it is against their better judgement. |

Alice Cooper – Generation Landslide Lyrics
| 2 years ago
|
This is a (satirical) dark, dystopian nightmare/ horror film where the establishment and the adults of the world are assaulted by their own children, due to the way they were raised. An entire generation who were spoiled and taught that "everyone wins a trophy", brought up on "alcohol and razor blades", suddenly rebel against their upbringing and attack their own hypocritical parents with "brats in battalions" and "Molotov milk bottles", while "militant mothers" are "hiding in their basements".
Luckily by the end of the matinee the protagonist parents finally win the day by employing the "Colgate invisible shield", only to find out that these are not their own children at all:
"..I laughed to myself at the men and the ladies who never conceived of those Billion Dollar Babies". |

Andrew Lloyd Webber – Heaven On Their Minds Lyrics

@[Grug88:5912] Although your comment is spot-on, I personally like the original London cast version better, perhaps because I heard that first. I had the pleasure of seeing Carl Anderson reprise his role as Judas Iscariot in a revival of JCS back in the 90's. He was amazing, even at his age. This song does set up the entire show and it is definitely my favorite from the production. |

@[heyjude55:4226] Keith moon had a floor Tom Tom specifically for his drinks, like a side table. Often his drinks would spill due to his "drumming style". This causes the liquid you see exploding everywhere in this song. |

The Clash – The Right Profile Lyrics

@[JeffKaos71:2535] You did know "From Here To Eternity" Is a famous 1953 war film starring Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Borgnine and Donna Reed, right? It won eight Academy Awards.I think the live Clash album may have taken the name from this. As a matter of fact, Red River, A Place in the Sun, the Misfits and From Here to Eternity are all films starring Mongomery Clift. The lyric is taken from the point of view of the EMT who arrived on the scene of a real car accident Clift had been in. "Say where have I seen this guy before?" |

@[Tsk8rKFF:2532] Thank you for the info. Very interesting and enjoyable. I always had a vague idea of this war, but i understand this interpretation much better now. I'd say you have a life after all. I realise i am writing this 13 years after you wrote your comment, but better late than never i suppose. |

The Stranglers – Nice 'N' Sleazy Lyrics

While Hell's Angels do not wear "halos", they do wear "colours", tend to call each other "brother", are usually surrounded by "wine and women, song a plenty", and refer to their individual club as a "chapter".
A simple play on words. I hope this removes any doubt as to what this song is actually about. |

Camera Obscura – The Sweetest Thing Lyrics
| 10 years ago

Sheer pop brilliance! This song makes you want to go fall in love and have your heart smashed into little pieces. The hook grabs you by the back of the neck and tosses you around the room like a rag doll. I do believe the song is a nod to Murdoch and his "lucid" line. Apart from Tracyanne, when Stuart write songs it is the "sweetest thing", so I see her point. |

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest anyone? Turning point in the story is when the protagonist (McMurphy) realizes most of his fellow inmates in the asylum are free to leave whenever they want, but never do.
"I'd rather stay here with all the madmen then perish with the sad men roaming free."
"I'd rather play here with all the madmen, cause I'm quite content they're all as sane as me". |

Classic coming of age song. Bitter-sweet.
It only has two parts, the chorus and the verse, but Neil doesn't need anymore than that, does he? The song brings you right there, sets the scene, and leaves. No more needs to be said. Brilliant really. The ability to say so much while using so few words. |
