David Bowie – Rebel Rebel Lyrics 14 years ago
I wonder if the kids would take the last name Bowie or if they would take his given name.

I want to run up to someone and say that so bad. With the same attitude as in the song. :D

David Bowie, back in the Ziggy Stardust days, I would say was bi-curious but not gay or even bi-sexual. In one interview/talk show when asked if he use to be gay Bowie said he was "terribly promiscuous and lets leave it at that." (Don't quote me exactly but it was almost just that.) The talk-show host also asked if he ever had relationships with these people and Bowie said, "not if I could help it!". So I'm pretty sure Bowie just liked to have sex and he enjoyed it with both boys and girls. He probably said he was gay in order to further shock society. The idea of him being gay back in the Ziggy days also added to the glam image. Who knows why he said it? He did have a wife when has in his 20's and they had a child together, but that marriage fell apart pretty fast I believe. Now David Bowie has super model wife Iman and a daughter. They've been married for nearly 15 years now? I'm not sure but I know it's been awhile. How old is daughter is I have no idea. It would seem as though Bowie's crazy bisexaul sex days are over, though. But back in the day he was young, sexy, and famous, why wouldn't he experiment? :D

Or I also really like the idea that it's about a friend who has the hots for his buddies girl.

First off Annie is a girl who always puts out with blow jobs. Joe is a man who, though quite attractive, is only playing games.

Now, the rest of the song means two things to me. Either the scenario where David Bowie is bi and has a gay lover who jealously watches as Bowie dances with a sexy chick. Bowie then has to explain that he is only dancing with her and that he just really needed some attention.

The second scenario still involves a bisexual Bowie with a gay lover John. Except dancing represents sex. Bowie is crying out for some sexual attention, he needs affection. So he seeks it out from a women. John can't stand this, he's terribly jealous. Bowie, with a tinge of frustration says of course you're jealous, you always care so much. Maybe Bowie wasn't getting any loving from his gay lover and that is why he went and found it in a women. Still, Bowie explains to his lover John that the sex was just sex and nothing else. Although that is not to say it wasn't good.
