The Preatures – Revelation (So Young) Lyrics 9 years ago
Though still trying to figure out what this song means, I feel a strong connection to the emotive melodies and abstract, yet deep lyrics. I believe the singer is describing a loss. After transcribing the words you see here (not perfectly) and listening to the song for days on end, it occurred to me that this song may have been about grieving the death of a close young friend or lover. I am not sure what "revelation" the singer is having, but I feel that she wished to go with him.

No shit, sherlock. I know this is old, but you've obviously never felt this level of pain to say something so cold and lacking in empathy.

KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See Lyrics 11 years ago
I think it means she has lines on her face - maybe even some wrinkles. They're evidence of who she is, where she's been and what she's experienced so far in life. She's seen a lot of things, been a lot of places, and tried quite a few things. Yes, KT's been affected by her, but I don't think she's a model. The lady isn't only beautiful - she's talented, strong and wise.

Tegan and Sara – Walking with a Ghost Lyrics 11 years ago
You sure think you're smart. Or perhaps you're a troll. Did it occur to you they could be both? Tegan and Sara Quin are twin sisters who both happen to be lesbians. They have girlfriends - and not each other, silly.

The Police – Synchronicity II Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't think it's any more about men than it is about women, especially in this day and age, or even in the 80's. Everyone is working to get their family through, and that includes mothers and fathers. This song is about a working husband and father, but is relatable to working Mom's, Dad's, gay parents, etc.

Wonderful and deep idea you have there.

Washed Out – You and I Lyrics 12 years ago
Great interpretation, but I'd like to correct a few things, at least the way I hear them.

"Slowly look up, you're looking hard to find love" should read:
It's all you got, you're looking hard to find love.

If you listen carefully, I think you'll agree with me. :) Thanks.

I think this song is just about being young and gay, and your parents not understanding or being as supportive as you want them too.

I have just listened to the track on the album, and it does sound very much like rattled.

Tegan and Sara – City Girl Lyrics 14 years ago
I have just one correction:

It's not:

I got uncertain from this
I'll be perfect from now on

The lyrics are actually:
I get uncertain, promise I'll be perfect from now on

This is referred to in the next line when Tegan says:
But all my promises they're out the window once you're gone.

Tegan and Sara – Alligator Lyrics 14 years ago
You got them pretty close. My corrections:

sensitive
it's true
alligator tears cried over you
over you, over you
over you, over you

Run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without

relentless
yes, it's true
my motor mouth
it runs over you
over you, over you
over you, over you

run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without

over you, over you
over you, over you
over you, over you
over you, over you

run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without

no hissy fits, mind my manners
I won't make a scene

oh, oh you
over you, over you
over you
over you, over you

run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without

rotten? yes, it's true
alligator tears spilled over you

run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without you
run around on me
I'd sooner die without
run around on me
I'd die without

oh!
over you, over you
oh you
over you, over you
over you, over you
over you, over you
oh you
over you, over you
oh you
over you, over you

I'm not sure about all the over you parts. I'm pretty sure most of the time she's saying over you, because in the clip of Tegan singing from it on Jordansilver.com she says it as "over you". But I think in some particular parts she's definitely saying "Oh you." I changed "cry" to "cried" and "spill" to "spilled". Minor corrections, but important just the same. Oh, and replaced "mind over mouth" with "my motor mouth".
The last part, where you put "wild", I've got no clue. It sounds like "rotten" to me, but that doesn't exactly seem right.
I've listened to this song a thousand times, and this is what I've gotten from it. Kudos on getting the "hissy fits, mind my manners" part, that one has been stumping me for days. Thanks for putting these lyrics up here! Can't wait for Sainthood to drop so we can all be sure!

Tegan and Sara – Don't Confess Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a Tegan song, and Tegan has often commented that she was less obvious about her sexuality than Sara was growing up. She'd say: "Here's my girlfriend," and someone would say, "Here's a plant." (That's banter from one of their live shows, I'm not sure which one.)
Anyway, getting back to the point, I think this song is about not having to confess being gay.
My personal opinion on the matter is: be open, and don't hide, but definitely, don't confess it like it's some kind of sin. And I think that might be what Tegan means when she says:

Don't think I'll confess
Why would I confess that I
Don't think I'll deny
why would I deny that I

She's not going to feel like she has explain herself, but she's certainly not going to deny it either, or hide it.

When she says: don't be so hard on yourself

She could be saying, don't put so much pressure on yourself (to confess)

Don’t think I’ll escape.
(Don’t think I’ll escape)
Why would I escape you?
Don’t think I’ll replace.
(Don’t think I’ll replace)
How could I replace you?
(How could I?)

Here she's saying, don't think I'll run away from who I am, don't think I'll run away from you and replace you with somebody else (go straight).

I don't know when she wrote this song, but maybe it was about how hard it can be on young people to come out. It does have a bit of a sad vibe to it.

My favorite lines:
And every second I spend waiting,
Drags me closer to this grave.

I'm not sure exactly what she means here, but I think what she's trying to say is that the longer she spends waiting to be honest to the world about herself, she's dying a little inside.

Whether my interpretation is exactly what Tegan meant or not, who knows, but I can definitely relate to not wanting to "Confess", as if being gay is a bad thing. People just need to be themselves, be open, be obvious, and if others have a problem with it then fuck them. Straight people don't have to say: here's my significant other, why are they the opposite sex? Oh, that's because I'm straight. I mean, it doesn't make any sense.

Tegan and Sara – Speak Slow Lyrics 14 years ago
I always pretty much knew what this song was about, except for the speak slow part. Does anyone agree with me that "speak slow" means that you should be cautious about how fast you say "I love you" to someone? Like when you're in a relationship it can seem like love, but after a while you just get tired of each other, so you should just "speak slow" when it comes to love.
That's how it seems to me, anyway.

It's clear this song is about eating pussy. Although, the first several times I heard it I had no idea what Plant was saying and thought this song was called "Drop Down". Hehe, not until I looked up the lyrics did I finally figure it out.
Love this song!
