Faith No More – Cuckoo For Caca Lyrics
|
It's likening cocaine addiction to coprophilia (sexual pleasure from feces). I don't know why everyone thinks it has only one focus.
Caca is the word for shit, and is similar to Coca, the plant cocaine is made from.
The first stanza can refer to a toilet seat or the surface you'd snort coke from. |

Faith No More – The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I haven't listened to this song in 5 years and I still love it! Makes me want to hit someone for the hell of it.
I don't think it needs much overanalysing. It's a vengeance song, particularly about those close to you that have betrayed you.
"Now blow that candle out, we're gonna kick you! Kick you!" |

Glassjaw – Siberian Kiss Lyrics

Well it can't all be lullabies. I thought GJ and Daryl went downhill after this. Part of what made them so good was the raw emotion.
I used to vent over girlfriends to this album though, hehheh |

Helmet – Crashing Foreign Cars Lyrics

Clearly about a promiscuous girl, a slut and the guys she takes for a ride.
One of my fav Helmet songs, recently heard it again and started listening to Helmet again. |

The Cure – There Is No If... Lyrics
|
Thanks Dizz! THe last time I listened to this song, 4 years ago I really thought it was about a girl falling in love with someone else.
But after reading your comment and looking at the lyrics again, I totally understand it.
"If you die" you said, "so do I" you said.
....
'"There is no if, just and"
which becomes "And you die, so do I"
This song is heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time. Amazing ambivalence. |

Wham! – Everything She Wants Lyrics
|
This is an 80s classic! Chessy it may be, but its great to dance to and does have some good lyrics.
Its clearly about a materialistic relationship, where the guy works his ass off and the girl just spends all and is never satisfie - a gold-digger. |

Queens of the Stone Age – Regular John Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
Yeah, I see it. A guy wants to call up some girl because hes bored and wants to have fun. He's asking her to let loose a bit.
"'I'm not the only one who will run with a knife" means he's not the only one who'll take risks. |

Nas – N.Y. State of Mind Lyrics

One of Nas' greatest. He rhymes on the trials and tribulations of New York life. Gotta be one of the greatest hip-hop storytellers. |

The Roots – The Seed (2.0) Lyrics

Great comments, when I first heard the lyrics I couldn't believe the Roots would drop a message like that. But now I've read some deeper interpretations I get it. |

Leftfield – Dusted Lyrics

Heh, true. I guess the lyrics are hard for international listeners because of the patois influence.
I've just typed up some correct lyrics, not perfect but much better than these. |

Tool – Pushit Lyrics

The one fairly constant interpretation is that this song is about a destructive relationship which you're unable to leave but know you must.
Maynard is no god, but he's talented. I hate fanboys, grow some individuality. |

Nina Simone – To Be Young, Gifted And Black Lyrics

Quote from Nina Simone
"now, [this song] is not addressed, primarily to white people, though it does not put you down in any way, it simply ignores you (laughter). for my people need all the inspiration and love that they can get, so...(cheers)" |

DMX – Stop Being Greedy Lyrics

|
Yeah, it's double sided. On one hand, when it's 'light', he's cool and just doing his thing. But when people fuck with him and it gets 'dark' his other side comes out. |

Sage Francis – Escape Artist Lyrics
|
I think, and I may be wrong, that this is about Sage escaping from the boxes and labels he's put in. From the battle raps in his youth, to the introspective poseur label. He's always trying to break out and keep it real. |

The Mars Volta – Concertina Lyrics

Submitted the complete lyrics, and they were updated. :)
The only stanza I'm unsure about is the one beginning "Suddenly drives up".
Anyway, simply an amazing song! It never fails to get the emotion across, one of their best! |

Jeff Buckley – So Real Lyrics
|
I always loved this song, but I only recently 'get it' on reflection of my former love. Its amazing how you can have a feeling so strong, but after it's gone it can feel so distant.
I sometimes imagine he says 'surreal' instead of 'so real' - 'cause you know, it is. |

Jeff Buckley – Forget Her Lyrics

This is the first Jeff Buckley song I ever heard and still my favorite after hearing all his releases.
Writtten after his split with Rebecca Moore, it conveys so well the pain of losing true love. As I said on the other version, tragically beautiful. |

Ella Fitzgerald – My Funny Valentine Lyrics

I've often wondered who sang it first publicly, it's a great classic written by Rodgers and Hart. I added this version since it has those intro words and I love Ella Fitzgerald! |

The Mars Volta – Inertiatic ESP Lyrics

Even after listening to Frances the Mute, this is still my favourite TMV song. Gives me chills sometimes.
I suppose those who don't like TMV's lyrics also don't read poetry? I think ATDI and TMV have always made great fusions of melody and poetry, who wants simplicity? It's boring. |

Faith No More – Surprise! You're Dead! Lyrics

I love trying to say this bit -
"See the world as it used to be when you used to be in it
When you were alive and when you were in love
And when I took it from you!"

The Smashing Pumpkins – Soma Lyrics
|
heh, theres always someone to associate a song with drugs ^_^
This song is about how you trust and confide in someone within a relationship, and then when that relationship breaks down you can feel angry, and hurt because you're once again alone as you always have been, but you still want to be with someone again despite the pain.
Love is like a dream, that can turn into a nightmare - Soma
My fave SP song! |

At the Drive-In – 198d Lyrics
|
The first time I heard this song it brought up alot of emotion and I'm not usually an emotional person. ATDI do songs like no other!
I definitely agree with Napoleon's idea - "born in hearts, etched in cold" being about epitaphs. And tom8658's thoughts about mortality. Though I still don't understand all the lyrics I've always thought this song revolved around life and death. |

Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics

and you must be oh-so-cool with a name like 'Mr Badguy'.
Anyway, on topic, this song represents Aerosmith at their best. It's about having a dream and keeping to it through the hard, the good, the bad; because life is short. |

Glassjaw – Pink Roses Lyrics

"I don't know, it has alot to do with god and the theory of like if something will go wrong it will and then questioning why they do. It also has to do with my relationship with my father and growing up how it was and my dad was an alcoholic and a drug addict and there were things there that I questioned why." - Daryl Palumbo |

Glassjaw – Siberian Kiss Lyrics

I haven't listened to this song is a long time, but i'm still reminded of the emotion reading the lyrics.
Describes one of my relationships perfectly, being with someone just for the sake of it and the conflicting emotions that come with it
Sucks that Crohns Disease stopped Daryl performing whenever I had a ticket! |
