A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 14 years ago
I have a faith that I constantly question and adjust accordingly to the way my life plays out. I'm not going to preclude that faith with the assertion that it's any more or less valid than anyone else's; quite frankly, there's no doubt in my mind that I'm wrong. That being said, I'm not sure if this song is about someone that follows a misguided faith or about the Biblical character - which would still be consistent with Maynard's statement about it being a "real person," historically - but if it is the former then I think that the song accomplishes nothing in addressing the demographic to which Judith is a part. Honestly, I have no qualms with someone having opposing beliefs, but responding to other beliefs so vehemently, as cosmically correct as it might be, is absolutely ineffectual and gets nothing done. Point is, I really hope this song isn't about any particular religion or even the followers of it, because as musically sound as you want to make something, your philosophy is never more informed than anyone else's.

Also, the part about being in school represents a child's acceptance of their superiors making decisions for them, whereas as adults must make decisions for themselves.

I think that this entire song is him realizing that there's no point in existing. He's not necessarily suicidal, but he sees existence as trivial. His dreams about dying are not necessarily about death, but about ceasing to exist altogether, something he wishes was possible. The part about the children is saying that children are oblivious to the concept of existence, that they see only what they know, and that he wishes he could share their ignorance. The birthday symbolizes the child's mentality of an event so significant that it is worth looking forward to consistently, believing that the next one will be better than the last, when in reality the effects of the event dull until it is simply another day. During the time when a child feels so excited about an event that an adult finds almost insignificant, they display true ignorance and obliviousness. The singer yearns to be a child and have such mentalities, but as he cannot, he sees no reason to exist.

The Chicks – Travelin' Soldier Lyrics 17 years ago
It is a distinct possibility that the piccolo player was the only one who knew one of the soldiers named in the list of dead, and nobody really cared about that one soldier, but the girl with a bow in her was able to relate to and sympathize with the piccolo player because she would feel the same way if "her" soldier were to die as well.

I wish they would start playing this on radio again. Stations would not become a center of controversy. I am strongly pro-war, but that doesn't mean I want to assassinate the Dixie Chicks, or even a third of them. A beautiful song.

Misirlou, it's Brian and Roger mimicking instruments. The tapping part is just them drumming on a table.

About JoeBaldwin's comment... Communism isn't represented by the Soviet Union. I guarantee you that Queen has not written any songs about Communism.

Queen – Love Of My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
Oh, also, I love how the guitar seems to be singing along in this son. If you don't understand that vague point, start listening at 3:16. It doesn't play like a guitar, but kind of like a violin, as though moving across the strings in a certain pattern, but seeing as how it's an electric guitar (probably Red Special), it almost sounds like the guitar is singing along. There are other instances of this in the song, but that's the most noticeable one to me.

Queen – Love Of My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
Ski actually has a point. When Freddie revealed he was gay, of course his girlfriend would be hurt. I'd feel hurt if my girlfriend told me she was a lesbian. What would that make me?

But then, he probably told her she was gay anyway, and she probably would've accepted it anyway.

If you've ever heard this song live, you have experienced true awesomeness. If you have ever BEEN there to hear it, you are an official Queen fan. Here's what Brian said on April 1st, 2006, in San Diego, CA, during Queen Tour '06.

"Now, we can do this song in one of two ways. I can sing it to you all quietly and you can sit there quietly and listen. Or, I can play, and we can all sing it together." That's what makes this song so awesome. It's so passionate in the studio version, but in concert, everyone always sang it together, because it's so easy to learn, and so irresistible to sing along with. A definite classic that any rock fan can point out, almost comparing to BoRhap.

Queen – The Show Must Go On Lyrics 18 years ago
If you've been to their new tour, you'll realize just how powerful this song is. They put so much effort into the song, and the lighting becomes just like an opera house. The backdrop changes from lots of fire and stuff (coming from their energetic, optimistic songs) to scenes of Freddie and all of the highlights of his life. It's simply a heart-breaking, loving song, and anyone who isn't emotionally changed by it doesn't have a soul. But then, anyone who can't understand its message isn't even close to being a true Queen fan.

Yeah, quoth Freddie, "We really identified ourselves with Queen II." Of course, I don't see how it didn't become popular. The cover was a clip from the Bohemian Rhapsody video. How eyecatching could it not have been?

cdonkey, you're right. He didn't come out of the closet for years. If every single line of every Queen song ever had some homosexual meaning behind it, it would be ridiculously plain to see that Freddie was gay. I swear, the next person I hear who makes a gay crack about Queen will have their asses royally kicked.

And the song meaning is truly obvious. A boyfriend is sick of his girlfriend's family because they're always prodding into his affairs for their daughter's sake, and he wants her to stand up to her parents because he's pissed off. Simple as that.

Genius the way you figured that out. Yes, yes, it's completely genius that he could actually know the name of a play by the most famous playwright of all time, and then ACTUALLY PUT IT INTO A SONG!

I agree that it would've been nice to see Roger doing more vocals, with his Louis Armstrongesque voice. And it's obvious that this is linked to White Queen (As It Began) just by the title.

Queen – Innuendo Lyrics 18 years ago
I simply adore the Spanish guitar, and what better way to imitate it than with Red Special? I've always been a fan of the kind of transition where the music gets to a climax, then suddenly breaks in wtih a whole new style as a solo, and then back into the loud, fast-paced theme. Obviously I was completely thrilled when I heard this one. The line "Through the sorrow, all through our splendour/Don't take offence at my innuendo" makes me think that he's questioning the existance of some divine being or predestination, but he's not necessarily denying such an existance. The entire first verse is about how no matter what kind of divine being exists, for aeons existance has continued on, and so it doesn't matter if there is one or not as long as we are alive and still tangible. I dunno, I'm new to this site, but not new to song interpretations, and I hope my input will help a bit.

They buried Paul at sea where his troubles were over. Simple as that.

Not really. This may actually signify the god in H.P. Lovecraft's works, Cthulhu, who sleeps under the fallen city of R'yleh. It is said that all his followers will be granted everlasting life while he wreaks havoc across the world (We would be warm/Beneath the storm). This is just my interpretation, but then, it's Ringo, so I can't be sure it has any undertone. Your guesses are every bit as good as mine.

Every few weeks, I download a new Queen song that I just can't get over. I never stop listening to it even after I find a new song.

This is the first of those songs, and I have to say that this is the COOLEST song ever, no matter what anyone says.

Queen – The Prophet's Song Lyrics 18 years ago
I must insist that this song is about Noah and his ark. When he tried to persuade people to save themselves, they did not listen to the "madman," and thus they drowned. "So grey is the face of every mortal" probably signifies when Noah realized that the people of the world were all sinful, and he saw their fates in the color of their faces. And the dove part explains itself.

Another beautiful song by Brian, but then, I say that about all Queen songs :-)P

Every time I would go out on my search for Queen songs, I'd see this one and think, "Wow, that sounds really cool." Sadly, I always looked at more popular titles, like those from Queen II. But once I found this one, I fell in love with it, and actually sent the Japanese verse to my aunt in Japan, who translated it for me. Beautiful song, really, and yes, Brian May did write it.
