Bob Dylan – My Back Pages Lyrics

Zero, you had it right the first time. He was talking about his past when he would point fingers at leaders/politicians/teachers out of anger for them having preached their ideas to the public, but he didn't realize that he was no better by doing the same thing.
Anyway, you guys pretty much hit the nail on the head in my opinion. He's taking a step back from the "savior of a generation" status everyone bestowed on him and basically saying, "You know, I was growing up and expressing my ideas through my work, thats all. I didn't necessarily have all the right answers for you all...I know more now than I did then." |

elephant range, its not, "Well I wait, Edia, for you" its, "Well I waited for you", even Bob's website has the lyrics that way.
Anyway great song, its pretty obvious that its about a girl that he wants but can't get for whatever reason. I love the 'beating on my trumpet' line. |

The Rolling Stones – Brown Sugar Lyrics

"What joker thought this was about drugs? Maybe they were high when they wrote it, but the literal meaning is unqueestionable. Slaveowner likes to eat out his black slaves -> "brown sugar." This song disgusts me. No doubt this is the most sexist and racist song that has reached this height of popularity. "Knows he's doin alright, hear him whip the women just around midnight" ??? WTF happened to make this song a hit? I go to a concert and people dance and sing right along. Just read the lyrcs. I'm surprised its allowed on the radio."
Its not meant to be sung by the protagonist...I dont know how else to explain it. Dave Matthews Band has a song, "Dont drink the water" and in the end Matthews sings about how the american founders took pride in their power, wealth, domination over the native americans. But he sings it from the founders' points of view...now does that mean he's condoning it? Hell no. Same with Jagger; granted the slave owner in the song sure sounds like hes enjoying it, but thats because its sung form his point of view! Mick's not actually saying slavery and rape are great...
Its people like you that take everything literally and become religious extremists and detonate themselves in the center of towns. Ok, maybe not, but you get my drift. |

Bob Dylan – Spanish Harlem Incident Lyrics

Well Bob's also an obsessive compulsive liar lol...even if he says the song meant nothing to him, that might not even be true.
Anyway, in my opinion, it sounds like Joan Baez might've been the influence behind this. I dont know why, but shes the first woman that comes to mind when I hear these lyrics. |

The Rolling Stones – Monkey Man Lyrics

I agree that's its not intended to be about the theory of evolution but there are the references to the primitive animal nature in us. And I love the line, "And I am just a monkey man, I'm glad you are a monkey woman too." |

After getting out of a relationship that went sour, he's realized its time to move on. But to never settle down again at the same time. He just wants to go from girl to girl at this point, because he doesnt want to deal with the drama. |

The Rolling Stones – Let It Loose Lyrics

Lyrics aren't too bad in my opinion. To PT, and anyone else who doesnt really get what Mick is saying: He's with a woman who he knows will break his heart in due time and that she's more than he can handle. But he can't refuse her because either he's lonely or just using a relationship to get away from other problems. She delivers right on time, gives him what he needs, but in the end its just the bedroom blues that he'll have. Her friends most likely dont even know his name because she hasn't bothered introducing them since he won't be around for too long. All in all he's not in love with her, and she's no good for him but he says keep the tears back and let it all come down (ie have sex). It's sad to what extent the character seems to be using sex as an escape really. |
